A forum for all things Cardiff City

I have been talking with a friend who watches WPL games. Home and away and says the best outcome is qualifying for a Europe qualifying spot. It seems to be the only way for these teams to make any money to cover them for a season, my friend said to me it would make it a lot more financially beneficial to move the WPL to a summer sport, because fans of other teams I.e Swansea cardiff would go down to these teams to watch games, and they would have a better chance of getting a TV deal with the likes of sky or bbc, to show live football during a time when there is none on. Would. You consider attending your local WPL team during the summer, and do you think it would be a good idea.

Would do if there was a more local team. Nearest is Port Talbot, quite often go and watch Merthyr play midweek always enjoy it to be honest.

It has worked for the better in other countries

Yeah, this is something the late and great Danny Gomes wanted to do at Sunday League level to reduce the number of games that were called off. Personally, I don't know what I'd do in the winter if football moved to the summer at local league level but I think it makes more sense to do it for the Welsh Premier League.

Most definitely. Also prepares them better for European ties

Been talked about for years, and seems a good idea to me. Better weather, less postponements, and avoids clashing with league clubs. Also better timing for the euro games.
Watch Carmarthen Town a bit, when there's no clash with the City. It can be bleak in winter!
Enormous respect for all concerned with the WPL, mostly semi-pro players, and unpaid volunteers, who work very hard.

Anything that has a chance of improving the WPL should be tried let's face it it's dire at the moment.

Definitely.
Crowd averages would increase and clubs would be so much better prepared for europe.
