QPRRangers agree signings of Mutch and Isla

04/08/2014
By David McIntyre

QPR have agreed the signing of Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch and are set to complete a loan deal for Juventus’ Chile star Mauricio Isla later today.

Rangers are poised to capture Mutch, 22, for £5m after activating a release clause in his Cardiff contract.

Earlier this summer they activated a similar clause to clinch the £8m signing of Steven Caulker from the Welsh club, who were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Isla, who impressed at the recent World Cup, is heading to Loftus Road on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.

The 28-year-old can play at full-back or further forward and Harry Redknapp, who is keen to use wing-backs this season, sees him as the ideal alternative to the more defensive Danny Simpson.

Isla is set to move to west London along with Mutch.

He has been with Juventus since 2012, having previously had a five-year spell with Udinese.

Mutch joined Cardiff from Birmingham City in 2012 and was a stand-out player for the Bluebirds last term despite their relegation.

Redknapp has been looking to add to his midfield options, having failed to land Steve Sidwell, who joined Stoke, and Craig Bryson, who signed a new contract at Derby.

Looks like its pretty much a done deal. BIG loss in my opinion but if fee is £5milion + with him on last year of contract could be a lot worse.

Financially great deal !!

From a player loss perspective it will be big !

If we can now keep all of existing players and add 3 big signings this week then good business all round.

Weve spent less than £3m on signings , obviously adding wages bonuses etc adds up to a lot more but books balancing as well.

I make it about £24m brought in plus rid of about £90k a week wages - with players gone ?

for £5m, a player on the last year of his contract, is not to bad! I can see 1 of the 3 new players coming in being someone who will replace Mutch, so an attacking midfielder! Personally, I would rather a new winger come in, with Daehli moving into the centre!

I agree, City have to sell a player in his last year of his contract for £6m (expected price).

£25m in sales (with Medel, Mutch, Caulker and Campbell).

£3.3m so far spent.

Figures look good, just hope that it turns out to be good on the pitch too Mike

Mutch is a great prospect but 5 to 6 million seems a good price for him.

Good luck to him! At least that was fast unlike soms of these other transfers that was dragging on all summer. Hope he does well at QPR!

£5m for a player in the last year of his contract is good business and given the debt levels at the club one that we couldn't turndown.

Jordan was one of our better players last season and I just fancy this is probably the highest is value will be during his career, so let's put the money in the bank and move on.

Good luck to the lad though as I think he always gave his best for us.

Unfortunately, unless you are one of the giants of British football, every player has his price. If the money is right, I would guess that there is nobody at the club who would not be sold.

Gutted about this great prospect, Malky was a fan of having release clauses in contracts

QPR have been told to come back with another £1million on top of the £5m already offered if they want Jordon Mutch.

The Cardiff City midfielder has become a major target for Hoops whose initial bid was turned down over the weekend.

The 22-year-old is keen to stay in the Premier League, and with Esteban Granero departed to Real Sociedad and the future of Adel Taarabt unclear, Rangers have space in the centre for the trickery that saw Mutch become a Bluebirds favourite last term.

The former Birmingham City player scored seven Premier League goals last season in a doomed City campaign, and a move to Loftus Road would see him ink up with former Cardiff captain Steven Caulker, already integrated into the Rs back line.

Bluebirds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would like to keep Mutch, but with only one year left on his contract, could risk watching him leave for free next summer.

Rangers and Caulker have already been in pre-season action in both Germany and Ireland.

Nothing is even agreed yet. Great of the press of the team we're selling to, try and pressure the deal to go through.

QPR to sign £6m Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch

QUEENS PARK RANGERS expect to land £6million target Jordon Mutch from relegated Cardiff City within the next 24 hours.

Mutch, who scored seven goals in 37 appearances last season, is valued highly at Cardiff but the club have accepted an increased offer for the 22-year-old.

The former Birmingham player will follow £8m man Steven Caulker out of Cardiff to Loftus Road after the defender signed for Harry Redknapp's men last month.

Redknapp is also close to sealing defender Mauricio Isla from Juventus on a season-long loan deal.

Isla's arrival would be QPR's third addition to their defensive ranks after Caulker and former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand.
