' Is Vincent Tan Happy ? Is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ? '

Mon Aug 04, 2014 8:15 am

Just My Opinion.
Tan will leave City if we fail to go up, he will take a big loss to get out.if we go up,I still believe he will want out,but of course he can rightly ask more money for us.
I still stand by Tan wants out,but to achieve this asap and get most of his money back we need to get promoted this season.
This is not an anti Tan topic,as this season, I want to enjoy my football more :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Is Ole the right man to take us back up? we will score plenty of goals, exciting matches, but unless Ole works on our defence,we will also concede loads, that is my main worry, but under Oe this coming season is guaranteed to be exciting,no matter what.

Is Vincent Tan happy with the work of Solskjaer and chairman Mehmet Dalman so far?

By Terry Phillips

Monday 4th August 2014.

He was far from happy when the Bluebirds went down, but vented most of that anger towards Malky Mackay. Tan, however, has put his trust in Solskjaer, though for all his support of his man he will expect the Norwegian to take City back up this season.

Solskjaer and chairman Mehmet Dalman have worked together in strengthening the squad - and the business completed so far has been excellent. City have added five new signings, who have all looked good in pre-season, at a total cost of £3.3m. The most expensive was Le Fondre at £2.5m.

They will also have brought in £25m once the Gary Medel (to Inter Milan) and Jordon Mutch (to QPR) deals are completed this week.

Tan is certainly happy with the work done so far, but now comes the crunch. City have to go up. Anything less and Tan will surely be angry again.

He wants the Bluebirds playing Premier League football and will want to see evidence they are ready to push on in the opening matches of the season.

Is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the man to lead Cardiff City back to the Premier League? :ole:

There were times when I had doubts.

What does he know about the rigours and challenges of Championship football? And while Malky Mackay kept things organised and solid, at times too defensive, Solskjaer wants his team to entertain and attack. That can result in a defensive frailty.

He still has to find the right balance between defence and attack. Mackay swung too far one way and there is an argument that Solskjaer has tilted things too far towards attack.

Solskjaer has learned a lot over the last seven months and is fully prepared for the challenge ahead. City have attacking firepower and will score goal, while a touch more organisation and grit at the back will ensure the Bluebirds can be a Championship force.

I think the attack option is better suited in the Prem than the Championship funnily enough as you are forced to be pro active. Ironically Malky is the perfect man for Championship promotion. We will see but at the moment we look defensively weak.

It's our defence that really worries me.

Window isn't even over yet people are saying our defence is weak, all we're missing from our Championship winning defence is Andrew Taylor and Kevin McNaughton and they're easily irrepelaceable

That's true but it isn't just a question of who is playing in the back four. It is a question of organisation and in this the midfield is as important as the defence. Since Ole arrived our defensive organisation has been shambolic and the midfield has offered virtually no protection to the players behind them. Saturday against Wolfsburg was a case of the same again with space readily available in our half for the opposition to exploit with no real pressure on them..I have seen no sign that Ole and his coaches are getting anywhere near sorting this out.

Personally I not that worried at all for the the coming season. The defence has issues but with an addition will be fine at this level,so will the midfield and the attack is looking top notch.
If anything it has to be the tactics, man management and the team work ethic that has to be spot on in this league.
Ole has had two transfer windows and this is his own team now so lets sit back, support the boys (keep up 19;27 and blue) and enjoy the ride :bluescarf:

You have a point when it comes to the midfield not providing the first line defense as it should. Still, so many of the goals we have conceded both last season and this pre-season, has been result of individual errors. Like Wolfsburgs first goal on Saturday. I don´t think you could blame that on organization.

I agree that he probably wants out. You have been involved for long enough to know that there is not a huge list of prospective buyers willing to pump their money into a bottomless pit. Football clubs have always been a risky business, and we have had our fair share of dodgy owners over the years. While I want blue back as much as anyone, I still feel with Tan here we are reasonably safe on the financial side of things, or at least as safe as a club can be in these uncertain times.

Maybe some can see the bigger picture AL in that short term pain in the sense of no promotion etc would increase the chances Tan leaving and then your club can move forward, return to blue and rebuild rather than just chasing the unsustainable short term success on the back of his buck?
