Former Rangers Defender Madjid Bougherra Wanted by Cardiff

English Championship side Cardiff City are interested in signing former Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra.

The 31-year-old centre-back is a free agent, having parted company with Michael Laudrup's Qatari side Lekhwiya in May, a club he joined from Rangers in 2011.


Now Bougherra is on the lookout for a new club and according to France Football, Cardiff, relegated from the Premier League last season, are front of the queue for his signature.

The defender is no stranger to British football, having turned out for Crewe Alexandra, Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic, before heading north of the border to Scottish side Rangers.




Bougherra helped Rangers collect three Scottish titles, one Scottish Cup and one Scottish League Cup during his time at Ibrox.

He continued his success in Qatar, helping Lekhwiya win the Qatar Stars League on two occasions, while last year the side won the Qatar Crown Prince Cup.

Bougherra was part of Algeria's squad at this summer's World Cup in Brazil, captaining the side.

Doesn't inspire me either to be honest. Ole has been quite prudent in the transfer market (to be applauded) and has done well in the players he's brought in since the end of last season. I think Tan would sanction a marque signing, therefore I think we should push for Fonte and give Southampton their asking price. If we could get the lad from United (name escapes me!) in as well, then those two players coupled with Marshall, Brayford and Fabio would see us just too strong for any opposition.

We signed McCormack on a free. He then got sold for 11 million

We bought McCormack from Motherwell £130k and Dave Jones was foolish to sell him to Leeds for £350k a year after Wolves offered us £7m for him and now he's gone from Leeds to Fulham for £11m we should of sold him to wolves or kept him he always gave 100% i said that we shouldn't of sold him back then he was better than Chopra as Chopra was on a massive downfall due to his off field antics

yep, on £135k per week!!!

130k was compensation. He had run his contract down meaning he was on a free. Same as Ledley and Matthews

Algeria was quite impressive in the world cup almost tied with germany. this guy was the captain, he is pretty pacey which would be handy. Central defense is a bit slow.
