If he does leave would you like a new midfielder come in and if so who would you like to see in. but I really hope he doesn't leave

I think he was as good as gone in May.

I hope we buy another winger. Matts needs to be in the middle.

If we're going to play 442 Dæhli can't play in the middle, it's not really a great option in a 4411/352 situation either as he's too weak.

If Mutch goes with Whitts and Eikrem going for the creative positions and Gunnar and Dikacgoi going for the defensive positions we are quite well covered with Kiss and Ralls backing those up further.

If we get £5mil if like to see a CB be brought in with that money really.

Be a shame though that of our better players last season only Marshall and Dæhli are staying. It's starting to seem more like a rebuild than a consolidate. If we could get a new CB. We could start the season with 9/10 (depending on how you classify Brayford) out of 11 players having not been at the club at the start of last season and 5ish new this window.

Amazingly if you count Brayford as not a Malky signing because he didn't want him, we could start next season with an XI of players he didn't sign.

I actually worry that our Central midfield in general is too weak defensively in 4-4-2. Neither Eikrem, Whitts or Mutch are very mobile players. They seem to offer a lot in attack and a lot less going back.
Mat is tiny tot :laughing6: but he is quite strong, not at all easy to knock of the ball. I agree that cam in a 4-4-2 might be too much for him physically right now. But i think you are greatly underestimating him if you believe he is too weak to play behind the strikers in a 4-4-1-1 or 3-5-2
He played in that position in the cup and you could see how he thrived there. In my opinion this will be his most effective position in the future.
We shouldn't be afraid to play him there just because he is a small guy, its a position he should be blooded into this season when the opposition is right. I hope Ole isn't just stuck on 4-4-2. Van Gaal said he changed the formation to play to the strengths of the players in the team hope ole is as pragmatic. At the moment i don't see that we even have 2 strong wingers to play 4-4-2 with Noone out with injury.
