Not saying he'll be a bad signing, but he's hardly a 'star'.

I've seen Nathan Ake a few times and for me is Chelsea's best youth player. If Derby get him they'll be a real force this year...

ARSENAL are currently linked with Colombian midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero, who joined Porto from Italian side Pescara last season and represented his country at this year’s World Cup. He is understood to have a £32million buy-out clause in his contract, and the Portuguese club, who struggled in the league last season, are under no pressure to sell. Having just spent £16million on Southampton’s Calum Chambers, it is not certain that Wenger will consider the South American worth the risk.

The North London side are also being frantically courted by Real Madrid, who are determined to offload Sami Khedira this summer rather than lose him to Bayern Munich on a free transfer next season. Wenger has previously expressed interest in the World Cup winner, who is keen to leave the Bernabeu in the face of increased competition from a number of midfield signings. Any deal will likely cost the Gunners in the region of £25million.

Cardiff’s Chilean midfielder Gary Medel is interested in a move to Inter, with his current employers and the Milanese club close to agreeing an £8.5million deal. Medel signed for Cardiff from Sevilla for £11million last summer in one of the season’s more bizarre deals, and became one of the better performers in a rather average Bluebirds side, although was unable to help prevent their relegation.

Colombian fever continues with Manchester United’s pursuit of Juan Cuadrado encouraged by Barcelona’s reluctance to pay the £30-million-plus asking price demanded by the winger’s current club Fiorentina. Shinji Kagawa and Javier Hernandez are linked with moves away from Old Trafford, to Atletico Madrid and Inter respectively.

Because signing players from Spain worked out so well last season, Brendan Rodgers is giving it another go and is planning deals for full-backs Alberto Moreno and Javi Manquillo. Right-back Manquillo will initially join on loan from Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla’s Moreno will plug the void at left-back for £16million. Iago Aspas, whose unhappy spell at Liverpool yielded one goal in fifteen games, has already helpfully told his new team-mate Moreno not to consider any offer Liverpool might make.

Steven Gerrard is entering the final year of his contract at Anfield and has called the club out in an attempt to get his deal extended, which is likely to happen with Rodgers still seeing the midfielder as a big part of his plans. ‘I’m not trying to call the club out or anything like that,’ said Gerrard.
