That's why I never eat from takeaways ect lol and I'd never in a million years eat from one of them city road, broadway type takeaways. We've been bombing the fuk out of their Countries of birth for the last 20 odd years, so you can't tell me they don't piss and spit in the kebab sauce.

f*cking detest the place anyway but Oystercatcher in Penarth only had 2/5. No one who lives here f*cking goes to that place and wish I could burn it down !!!

I was on an all day council food hygiene course yesterday and there's some stories they told me. But to get a low mark in the first place they would have had more than one warning and then a re-check to see if their practices have changed

I'm surprised the Oystercatcher is still a 2 considering they were adamant they only got it because of paperwork issues. If that was the case they would have fixed it and got someone out to revisit and re-score.
Generally, you can drop to a 3 for paperwork issues and very minor other problems, but you don't get a 2 unless you've got some serious cross contamination issues.

The main cross contamination issues the oystercatcher has got is chavs trying to blend in with a respectable residential area.
Fri Aug 01, 2014 2:00 pm
Been in catering for a while I can tell you to get a 2 is not down to paperwork it must be really bad and would of thought they would be given notice to sort it.

I went on a full days Food Hygiene course with Cardiff Council on Wednesday and it's the state on the food and pest control which really knocks the score down.
They said the difference between having a paperwork trail and a non paperwork trail is the difference between having a 4 and a 5. Its only to protect yourself if someone cried fool and they can trace the food chain and it certainly wouldn't drop you anymore than one mark

Done the course a few years ago Adam. You're 100% spot on. I remember when these ratings first come out and they were all moaning - now we know why.

Very interesting site, don't know about anyone else but some of my best food places have the lowest scores, but places with crap food ie chicken ding are all 4 and 5.

There's no direct correlation or link between food quality and hygiene. A nice chicken based meal may tickle your fancy but if you spend a few days ill afterwards is it really worth it? I know loads of places with terrible ratings that actually serve fairly tasty food - well they must do because the customer turnover is high - I dont eat from such places - cook and prepare all my food now.

I remember seeing the juberaj by roath park had 0 out of 5, which was quite disturbing as they charge a premium for curry there....nit been back there or the Heath kitchen....don't get many take aways these days

I wonder if people who have died of e-coil or Salmonella in the past wish they had this kind of information. ? Maybe you should think of your loved ones before you purchase any further food from your beloved zero rated food outlet

34 mate and remember it well. Do you honestly believe they would keep the zero rated places open if it has any chance of a cause of death or serious illness ?
If iv been eating at a takeaway for over 10 years and never had an issue with it before. Stunning food every time, then why should i change just because someone thinks its dirtier than other places ?
Fri Aug 01, 2014 10:24 pm
Just had a Valley Tandoori from Ton Pentre, Brilliant...

Do you also have family who have smoked for 60 years and there's nothing wrong with them ? Maybe it would do you some good in attending a food hygiene course as I'm sure afterwards your mindset would change

Adam im an engineer for 1 of the biggest food outlets in the uk so please dont ask me to go on a food hygeine course. Im pretty sure i just may have been on 1

Well 'if' you have then I wouldn't think that you would treat professional opinion on how operations of 'some' food outlets with such carelessness

My local Chinese had 1 and it was very good but won't go back now. I ordered off just east earlier and it's amazing how poor the Chinese take aways are.
Fri Aug 01, 2014 10:42 pm
Why "if" ?
Do you disbelieve i havnt been on 1 or something
In work (where i am now) food hygeine is extremely tight. Every 1 of our food outlets has a 5 star rating. And theres close to 2000 in the uk.
But when im relaxing on a saturday evening with the mrs (and yes i have 2 children), do you honestly think that when im eating my takeaway i want to know how clean the food outlet is ? I bet most chinese takeaways thats got chicken on the menu isnt even chicken. If iv had a bad meal from the place then i would go elsewhere.
Are you the type when drunk in cardiff and in the need for food that you would check the food hygeine rating in the window before you enter ?

Many a year I had a contract with a transport company who done multidrop deliveries of stock to Chinese Take Aways in the South Wales area. Back then I would try and do as many positions first as I could then describe it better to the staff which I'd be putting the customers way. I tell you mate EVERYONE I put there would not last more than one day. Because I was there I was just delivering to the door but when the guys went in they where told to take the deliveries all over the location and some of the sights were horrific and as a animal loving person I did call the RSPCA to investigate some of those takeaways
