Stories from the road to/from Wembley

The sights and atmosphere on the M4 were great. Service stations packed out and buzzing. After the game, we had a meal and a bottle of wine in a favourite restaurant in Holborn, then made our way back home on the M4, reaching J16 by about 10.15pm. The M4 was closed by then, of course, and we were diverted through country lanes. Traffic was flowing smoothly by then. Back on the motorway at J17 was it? Still got back home in about 3 and a quarter hours. What was it like earlier? Did most get through before the shut down?
