Experienced: Tommy Smith in action for former club Cardiff City
Saturday 26th July 2014.
Tommy Smith could seal a contract with Brentford next week after being given another chance to prove himself in Tuesday’s friendly with Osasuna.
The Spanish side roll into Griffin Park for a friendly match and present veteran forward Smith with the perfect opportunity to show he’s not lost the golden touch.
Bees boss Mark Warburton has confirmed the 34-year-old will turn out for the west London side and has already been blown away by the former QPR and Cardiff man in training.
Decision time: Brentford manager Mark Warburton will decide on Smith next week
“Tommy Smith will play on Tuesday,” Waburton said after today’s 3-2 win over Nice.
“He was excellent in training today and just needs to get himself fit, as simple as that. Tommy Smith is a class act, so hopefully a fruitful week for Tommy. We’ll see how he gets on this Tuesday and go from there.”
