It's current affairs. This stuff happens but usually it doesn't get covered by the news. There's more plane crashes than you might think but given the ratio compared to the number of planes that don't crash, it's still a very safe means of travel and a rare occurrence.

There was 18 worldwide in 2011. There has been 4 in about 6 weeks so it is well above average but as you say their are around 30 million flights per year, so still a very low percentage.

Looks like it came down in bad weather.More families suffering today.Our thoughts go out to them.
