While watching Northern Ireland enter tonight I noticed that they had a number of boxers that represented The Republic of Ireland in the last Olympics. How does that work? I know that a majority of citizens from NI are entitled to dual citizenship but these boxers if they won gold in London would have stood to Amhrán na bhFiann. should they win gold in Glasgow they will have to stand to Londonderry air.
My question is how can they represent ROI in one event and then represent one of the home nations in another event considering the history. Or have people come that far that this sort of conundrum no longer matters.

The republic aren't in the commonwealth so I guess they actually live in the North and that's their ticket to be there. Typical Pikes!!!

Love my boxing but refuse to watch the boxing at the Commonwealth this time because of the way waba have treated certain boxers, Ashley brace got excluded 2 weeks before it started because she competed in the world kickboxing championships last year, yet they let her train her heart out, fight her heart out in the squad tour e.g in Canada then they drop that bombshell saying now she can compete, I feel gutted for her big time, also Olympic champ Fred Evans got kicked out but if rumours true he got into trouble on a night out then that's fair enough
