Stoke City: Who was Cardiff's Ole Gunnar Solksjaer watching?
By Martin_Spinks
Monday July 21, 2014
CARDIFF boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was spotted at yesterday’s friendly between Stoke and Borussia Moenchengladbach… but who was he there to see during the 1-1 draw in Rottach Egern?
Jack Butland is likely to be available on loan again and perhaps a regular slot in a promotion-chasing Championship outfit like Cardiff wouldn’t do him any harm for the first half of next season.
We all know Ryan Shotton is ripe for the picking and he would surely fancy a shot at getting a few games by joining Cardiff in the Championship.
Andy Wilkinson recently signed a new one-year contract at Stoke, but could a loan move be in the offing if he doesn’t make any short-term impression on the much-contested right-back slot?
Let’s not forget Borussia also had 15 players on the pitch during yesterday’s game, however, and they included Solksjaer’s Norwegian compatriot Havard Nordweit.
Or maybe Solksjaer was just passing – Cardiff have been touring Germany – and had nothing better to do.

Ryan Shotton, please. Versatile on the right-hand side, and with Noone out we're going to need some quality cover.

My fingers are crossed for N'Zonzi.
And Håvard Nordtveit isn't getting enough matches at Borussia, maybe he wants out on loan or something. That would be wishful thinking though, he's wayyyy too good for the championship.

N'Zonzi? No chance. He was one of their best players last season and at one point handed in a transfer request for a bigger team.
Far too good for this league.

He has also been a big disciplinary liability and had back to back shit performances at the end of the season, Stoke just might want to offload him before he goes down in value, but I agree he'd more likely find a better club and league.

Nordtveit would be an exceptional signing

Not sure about nordtveidt as a cb thought he was pretty bad in that position for Norway vs France.
Very good as a defensive midfielder in bundesliga though.
Would he be willing to drop down? He is playing for a top 6 German team. He has been linked with a move back to arsenal several times over the last few years. He could easily play for a PL team.

He was just meeting up with old friends according to Terry Phillips.
No scouting.
Just a social call and watching a game of football.
