Weird to see

Sun Jul 20, 2014 9:47 pm

Talked to a few people today about the football etc, the one man I spoke to had a youngster with him ,he said oh football is where you just dive, and cheat. Its disheartening more than anything because people are seeing football as a game where you dive, football imo, once was a rough game and now, sadly it's not

The people that say that are the ones that don't usually watch football.
Diving is a horrible part of the game but it's a small part.

Yes, you are right it is a small part of the game, but becoming bigger though - look at Robben's antics in the WC!! It does for me spoil the game though.

As a rugby player it is sad to see the diving etc in the game but it doesn't spoil it.I just wish the referees would start really punishing players to try and end it.

People who don't watch the game like we do are the ones who say that

You have to be able to see past the diving and feigning of injury, to appreciate our otherwise fine game!

Both of these forms of cheating or attempting to cheat does the game no favours however and I can see why a lot of people won't bother watching football, especially after watching some of the more melodramatic actors playing football!

I also like rugby mind, but as the scrums take so long these days, mainly due to them appearing to be incessantly collapsing, my interest has waned in that sport as well!

The intensity and fast pace of Football is always going to cause more injury and momentum to go down.

Football called a poof sport where Rugby you have lads grabbing each other ass's and getting all touchy feely.

They do more than grab your ass in the scrums mate and I can tell you that it hurts! :)

There are a lot of injuries in both sports these days and a lot of life threatening ones as well!

I broke my shoulder at 15, my left wrist at 17 and did an Aaron Ramsey at 29, all playing football!

Feck me, I even broke my upper left arm playing squash about 10 years ago! :)

I disagree as there are more who say that if they remember football before the Premier League started. The newer fans are the win at all costs and you see that with them not minding the red down the city but the older fans get embarrassed even if they see their own player dive

I must be born in the wrong generation then
I hate how a lot of people my age are the win at all cost fans, as you put it. Would be interesting to see who would still turn up of we dropped down a league and lost a lot of players.
