Can Ole strike the right balance ?

Sun Jul 20, 2014 11:35 am

A criticism often labelled against Malky was that his team was too defensive and didn't create enough opportunities going forward. Now Ole's approach seems to be total opposite. There were times last season where we looked like we could conceded a cricket score and probably would of if not for the heroics of Mr. marshall.
fabio and Declan maybe good going forward but they certainly not great defenders and expose the frailties of our centre halves. I have seen some comments on ere suggesting the Palace player maybe the answer.. Not sure how they came to that conclusion as he's yet to kick a ball for us.
Looking at the pre seasons games to date doesn't suggest things are going to change this season.
Do you think Ole should should bring a defensive coach?

Million dollar question that.

My opinion was that we went into meltdown when we lost Medal. Hull home was typical where we were exposed through the middle in the absense of Medal.

Will this Palace player be the anwer? Well we are going to find out very soon.

I think more than the personnel the key will be each playing knowing what's expected of them and what they should be doing. It's fair to say some players looked confused at times last season so a hopefully good pre-season together will help.

It really is the million dollar question, I'm not sure if I'm excited or nervous to find out.

Getting the balance right in terms of player selection is going to be massive as well in my opinion, getting consistency is key in this league but at the same time with such a big squad full of quality, how do you keep players happy if they're not getting game time ? It's great to have so many options but it's a tough job Ole's got on his hands. :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

For most part Malky seemed to keep his big squad happy during his promotion year... conway probably the only exception. Whether Ole has the experience remains to be seen
