Sky TV advice

Sat Jul 19, 2014 2:32 pm

Got the old HD box but want the new one but they will expect me to buy a new box so fook that. The Sky is in my wife's name can I cancel and set up in my name getting a new box and the benefits of being a new customer ?
They don't look after old existing customers but bend over for new ones. Any one done or thinking of doing similar if you can do it ?

You could take up Sky's offer of half price multi room for 12 months and put the new box in your living room and use the old one in your new chosen room!

Do you live in a virgin media cabled area. If so I can give you an excellent deal with better broadband.

If not, call sky and go through to retentions dept and tell them what you are going to do and they should sort it for you :ayatollah:

Well you could always phone them up and threaten to cancel your subscription and they may offer you a new box!

I complained about my reception last year and they said they would either charge me around £80 for the service, or I could pay a monthly insurance premium. I told them they could stick it up up their arse and I would cancel my subscription. They then put me through to cancellations, who quickly sent me an engineer free of charge! :D

I cancelled mine 2 months ago, because my signal was poor, they kept ringing me and bombarding me with letters, I came back on my terms moved my dish onto chimney good signal now and gave me a brand new sky hd box and 25% off my subscription. Just threaten them with cancellation :thumbright: :old: :bluescarf:

Basically, threaten to leave. If you have Virginmedia in your area, find out how much you could get a deal from with them before you phone Sky and say you think you want to change over.

If you can convince them you're serious about leaving, you should get a deal.

And if you've been a good customer for more than 10 years, point that out to them. If they still won't give you anything I'd be surprised.

I always play the game with sky.

I cancel after 12 months and within 3-4 weeks they ring offering 50% off, refuse and you get a couple of more calls before their best point of call offer comes! I have just signed back up and have the full package! line rental and free unlimited broadband for £30 per month.

Play the game Nukes and cancel.

Before the season starts you should have the deal you want
