Inter Milan's transfer guru Piero Ausilio is set to meet Cardiff City chiefs to thrash out a deal for Gary Medel on Monday

Inter Milan supremo Piero Ausilio is set to enter into showdown face-to-face talks with Cardiff City to thrash out a deal for star Gary Medel on Monday.

The Chile midfielder was expected to sign for Inter Milan this weekend, after a scheduled meeting between the Bluebirds and Medel's agents on Friday.

But those talks were postponed until Monday, for Inter technical director Ausilio to enter into the negotiations with the Bluebirds hierarchy and the Chile star's representatives

All Cardiff City transfer negotiations are now held by the the three-man committee comprising of chairman Mehmet Dalman, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and general manager Ken Choo.

With Solskjaer currently in Austria preparing his squad for the upcoming Championship campaign and Tuesday night's match against Russian outfit FK Amkar Perm, the tense negotiations will be in the hands of experienced businessmen Dalman and Choo.

The Nerazzurri are expected to play hard ball and demand an initial loan deal with an option to buy for around £6.5m if he is a San Siro success, in a similar style to Michu's move from Swansea City to their rivals Napoli this week.

The Serie A outfit feel the Bluebirds' relegation from the Premier League leaves them in a weak bargaining position but Dalman and Choo are expected to use all their business acumen to demand an up-front fee of £8m with no initial loan, having signed him for a club record £11m last summer.

Reports in Italy suggest Inter are prepared to soften their stance and negotiate a fee with substantial add-ons
