Caulker and Campbell are thought to be close to joining QPR and Crystal Palace respectively as

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted England internationals Steven Caulker and Fraizer Campbell have almost certainly played their last matches for Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds boss said: “I am resigned to losing both players - we are more or less planning for the new season without them.”

Solskjaer also revealed both Caulker and Campbell have still not made up their minds on where they will be playing next season.

Crystal Palace, Southampton and Queens Park Rangers are keen on £8m-rated Caulker, while Leicester City and Palace have been the clubs chasing Campbell.

Solskjaer is in regular contact with Cardiff owner Vincent Tan and chairman Mehmet Dalman, who have been together in Sarajevo, Bosnia this week.

Tan owns both Cardiff and FK Sarajevo and was joined by Dalman when he flew to the city. They were there to watch Sarajevo in European action.

Cardiff have a 28-man squad in Austria for their pre-season tour, but left Caulker and Campbell behind to sort out their futures.

Caulker, 22, played every minute of every City match in the Premier League last season, while striker Campbell scored six goals at the top level.

“The boys have expressed a wish to play Premier League football again next season and we are resigned to losing them,” says Solskjaer. “I am not going to take a risk injury by playing them in pre-season fixtures.

“It’s up to them now to make a decision, Of course if they decide to stay with Cardiff that’s a different matter, but both expressed they want to play Premier League football and we can’t give them that this season.

“In theory, I am resigned to losing them and feel that they won’t be involved in the coming season. In reality we are more or less planning for the season without them.

“There have been loads of approaches, but they still haven’t made up their minds.”

Solskjaer has signed five players this summer and four of those are in Austria. Craig Dikgacoi has not made the trip because of visa problems, while Adam Le Fondre, Federico Macheda, Javi Guerra and Guido Burgstaller with the City squad.

We knew they were going. I applaud Campbell for his work rate but he didn't set the world alight with his goalscoring. Be interesting to see how many he scores this season.
just hope that we now have enough quality defenders for our season ahead.

Only one more player to come in - oh dear what a slog this season is going to be.

He needs to be brutal, ship out the shit and get in decent defenders and a winger.

You always want to keep good players but I dont think the loss of these 3 is going to have a huge impact.

I think we already have 2 players who would potentially start ahead of Fraizer.

Gary Medel played as a Defensive Midfielder. Will we need a DM? If yes, then we have Aron. If not then we already have a number of midfielders that can play in a 442 433 or 343 etc

Caulker I think is the biggest loss but we were always going to lose him. Just need to replace with some quality.

I was at photographing the Wigan-v-Besiktas match the other day. Listening to some of the other journalists/photographers they were all in agreement that we are the team to beat this year. Nice to hear. I just sat there quietly and smuggly :ayatollah:
