Michael SteeleDone deal: Palace boss Pulis has splashed the cash to win the chase for Caulker

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is smashing the club's signing record to buy Cardiff centre-half Steven Caulker in a £8million deal.

Pulis has matched the England international's fixed price - and his money men are going to pay him £42,000-a-week to join.

It is a stunning package and a huge statement by the Eagles who have outbid Harry Redknapp's QPR for the former Tottenham defender.

Caulker spoke to both clubs and the financial deal at Selhurst Park is better - with Pulis also convincing him it is a good career move.
