' UPDATE ON GARY MEDEL '

Thu Jul 17, 2014 2:30 pm

I can see Inter getting their way.

Medel at the moment is at home in Chile.

Sky Sports

Thursday 17th July 2014

“Inter are ready to ‘attack’ Cardiff in order to lower the price for Gary Medel’s buy-out clause, as the intention remains to sign the Chilean on loan.

The price tag is still too high (1o million euro) and Inter want to negotiate it down to 7 million.

The two parties have spoken on the phone thanks to the diplomatic work of Medel’s agents, who are very appreciated by Mazzarri”.

These are the latest reports on the Gary Medel transfer story by Sky Sport.

If there is a buy out clause which Inter think is to high maybe Medel should offer to make up any shortfall that Cardiff may need to accept.

Now that would be a first and I suppose it depends on how much Medel wants this transfer.

who do inter actually talk to? who would be on the phone as cardiff representatives?

Tan won't come out of this with anything he is unhappy with.

Whatever the price at the end of the day, it'll be a decent deal in the end

quick, shut the door and turn the lights off and pretend your not in.

Re: ' UPDATE ON GARY MEDEL '

Gary Medel wants to get away from Cardiff as quickly as possible - he couldn't give a shit about our club.

That's his perogative of course.

It's my perogative not to give a shit what happens to the mercenary tw*t.

If he's got a buy -out clause it's really simple for Inter.

Pay the amount or f**k off.

I thought Tan could not be bullied :bluescarf:

If we have got to sell meaning paying bills etc then fair enough sell him at a reduced rate otherwise any clubs interested meet the release clause amount or stay away. We don't owe medel anything he is an employee of the club who signed a contract for X amount of years. I just hope we don't buckle under pressure from a big club and Garys representatives.

The club should just take whatever they can and cut their losses.

Good riddance to Medel, who spent the second half of the season ducking out of 50:50 tackles and avoiding any risk of injury prior to the World Cup.

It's not quite that simple I'm afraid. Inter hold a lot of power in these negotiations since we desperately need to get him off the wage budget.

I respect some of your views.

But let's think which player really care about the club the way fans do. Players are mercenaries who wants to win.

I think Medel always gave his 100% while playing for Malky, but then season was fuc*ed up off the pitch.

Of course he have to go and there is no other option, so I really hope we will take for him what's he's worth. :old:

Pay up inter, you know how much the clause is. That is our value of him, no less.

Hope Tan doesn't give up. We will see how strong tan is for sure if he lets Medel go on the cheap. I would rather keep Medel to be honest. Its players like this who can gain us promotion again.

Dear Cardiff faithful, I'm in the midst of a discussion on an Italian football forum and would like you to weigh in with an answer to this query: Was Gary Medel ever deployed as an out and out central defender whilst playing for your side?

ps. as an inter supporter and a fan of Medel, I hope he ends up joining us AND that you are duly compensated and I don't mean to - in any way - offend you by posting this question at current time.

all the best

We only ever played him as a CDM in a 352 or 433.

Never got tried as a CB, I expect that he'd have been targetted massively if he'd played at the back due to his lack of height. Every team in the prem have a tall striker they can use when needed.

There isn't a more physical league in world football than the Premier League; had Medel been deployed as a central defender he'd have been destroyed.

I also hope that he ends up joining you and that the deal can be a final one.

What's Tan got to do with it? If a player wants to go, they'll go no matter what their contract says. I suspect you know that already but you want to have a dig at Tan anyway, as if it would be his fault when Medel goes. Let's face it, Medel was gone the day we got relegated. Let's accept it and move on.

Medel was gone long before that... as witnessesd by his inept displays.

In terms of fee. Getting back at least what we paid for him

Re: ' UPDATE ON GARY MEDEL '

Might be hard to get our money back. Depends if we massively overpaid for a defensive midfielder. Best we can hope for is to get a good reflection of his market value after a good World Cup, which may, or may not, be £8-10m.
