Man United clear out
Thursday 17th July 2014
He’s been in the Manchester United job for less than 24 hours, but the Mirror are billing Louis van Gaal as ready to shift the deadwood out of Old Trafford.
Ten players are set to for Old Trafford exit door, say the tabloid, with Marouane Fellaini and Wilfried Zaha some of the bigger named stars set to leave.
Without any further information available on the backsheet of the paper, the narrative that’s being built is the van Gaal fundamentally believes the squad at Man United is all wrong.
Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera have joined United already this summer, but if the Mirror’s story is accurate then surely more signings must being coming for the Red Devils.
Interestingly, the Express run with the same story, and they list other players set for the chopping block.
Luis Nani, Ashley Young, Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez, Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Bebe and Nick Powell are all mentioned as surplus to requirements.

The biggest story in Wales today is the battle that is emerging between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Swansea City starlet Ben Davies .
Tottenham and Swansea have agreed a £10m fee for the youngster while former boss Brendan Rodgers appears to be ready to up his initial £8m offer and pressure will be increased after a Liverpool Echo poll revealed 61% of fans think Davies is the answer to their left back problem.
Davies played against Chivas Guadalajara last night but whether we will see him in a Swans shirt again, remains to be seen.
Iceland star Gylfi Sigurdsson could still be part of any deal for Davies, if he moves to Tottenham.
The Swans are understood to be keen on the player who had a successful spell on loan at the Liberty in 2012 but reports suggest the midfielder wants to stay at White Hart Lane to impress manager Maurico Pochettino.
Wilfried Bony has been the talk of Wales this week as Liverpool looked set to trigger his £19m release clause.
But as Brendan Rodgers aims to Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette for £16m, it seems less likely that the Ivorian will be heading to Anfield .

Swansea's other star, Michu, is set to join up with his Napoli team mates at their training camp in Verona today.
Even though his signing has not yet been confirmed by the Serie A club, sources in Italy are claiming that an initial loan deal with a fee of around 9m Euros, payable next season, has been agreed.
Gary Medel is still a Cardiff City player.
He's on his break from World Cup duty and Inter Milan are very confident of doing a deal at a price that suits them, according to several Italian papers today.
There are claims that Medel's agent will be flying to Wales in the coming days to broker the deal for around 9m Euros.
Cardiff City could land Bolton's South Korean star Chung-Yong Lee...if they make an offer.
Bolton boss Dougie Freedman has been talking to Bolton News about the winger's contract, which expires next season and the manager says: "We need to look at the business side of it, his ambition, and the club’s ambition.
“If you can marry them together, so to speak, we’ll work it out."
Finally today, we reported Cardiff City stalwart Peter Whittingham has signed a new three-year deal.
The deal for the Bluebirds' longest serving player should keep him at the club until 2017 in what is the biggest indication yet of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's faith in him.
