It is understood Inter have offered Cardiff 7m Euros for Medel up-front plus add-ons, but Cardiff are determined to hold out for significantly more.
Representatives from Inter Milan are due to fly into the Welsh capital within the next 48 hours to try to force a deal through for Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medel.
The Italian giants are keen to land the Chilean international before they depart next Wednesday for a series of pre-season games in America, although within the club itself the hope is that agreement might be reached as early as the end of this week.
Inter have become frustrated that their pursuit of the combative midfielder has not moved on quickly enough and are to coming to speak to the Bluebirds hierarchy face-to-face in a bid to move things along.
They have been made aware that French club Marseille are now also monitoring the situation and fear their target maybe snatched from under their noses.
The two clubs have already tried to thrash out a deal over a series of phone calls in recent days, but no agreement has yet been reached.
At this point in time Cardiff and Inter remain quite far apart on their valuation of the 26-year-old who remains Cardiff’s most expensive ever signing after arriving in a deal worth £11m from Sevilla last summer.
It is understood Inter have offered Cardiff 7m Euros for Medel up-front plus add-ons if certain targets are reached.
These include the midfielder making more than 30 appearances for the San Siro outfit next season and the Italians themselves qualifying for the Champions League or Europa League.
Cardiff, though, are likely to demand at least £10m up front for the World Cup star.

Well pay the asking price then.

Trying to get a world class player for under £10m is taking the p*ss. After a very good performance in the world cup.If they want him then they can pay us what we are asking.

I'd be happy with €7 euros.

Pre-season friendly next year as part of the deal?

They should say our asking price is ten million non negotiable if you don't match it jog on

Then we are stuck with him. His value has heightened because of his decent world cup. Clubs ain't fighting with him get what we can off inter

Who knows who else is interested. I've seen mention of Marseille, Olympique Lyonaisse, Valencia and another Spanish club.
Looks to me like Inter are trying it on. Good to see we aren't caving in. They will pay more, if not then we keep him and wait for a fair offer.
Seems to me like they are offering him big wages to get us to cave in.

Hope your right, just hope we don't over value him after a few decent world cup games.

Player/agent histrionics aside with Tan's backing we are well able to tell them to f**k right off unless the price is right for CCFC and that is fully what I expect to happen. Dalman is a merchant banker and brinkmanship/deals/negotiation is his thing.

I think you are probably right but I wouldn't be disappointed if, by sticking to our guns, we ended up with Medel for another season
If we had played him correctly last season we might have seen his Chile form at CCS. Don't forget, many football insiders were amazed that our little club was able to attract a player of his quality in the first place. He ain't no mug despite what some people seem to think on here

Malky did well in getting Medel, now hopefully Tan does good out of the deal for us
