Ipswich fan needs a favour

Sun Jul 13, 2014 3:54 pm

Hi, young ITFC fan here. I am writing a piece on our forum about how the other clubs in the league see us and what they think our chances are of promotion or relegation in the coming season, plus our new signings. I understand that there will be a few more comings and goings and that you lot may not be aware of all our deals so far but I would really like it if you could write a decent sized paragraph. I shall return the favour, if any of you are interested in the same sort of thing!

I think that the Malky Mackay debacle was a shame because without it, I think you could have stayed in the Premier League for a few seasons. You are one of the favourites this time around, and due to the parachute payments have money to spend. The signing of Le Fondre is good, as is the acquisition of Macheda. Nicky Maynard is very good at this level also. If Whittingham can reproduce the form of the 2012-13 promotion season, the future looks very bright. Top players will have to be sold still but can be replaced due to the finances. Keeping John Brayford is vital as he was very good for Derby. I was surprised he was on loan in League One last year. I wasn't convinced by Ole last year and the defence did not look good enough. It will be easier in the championship but I think a play off push is likely. I wish you good luck for this season for 44 of your matches.

Any responses will be appreciated and well received.

I would be grateful for just a few responses if that is OK.

To be honest I have often thought you would do something in this division on a number of seasons with the money Marcus Evans puts in and under Mick McCarthy it looks like you are getting your act together.

Thanks for responding. He threw money at Keane and PJ but they wasted it. NOw due to FFP we are restricted but tbh it means the club is more sustainable without large sums being chucked around. Things are looking up under McCarthy though.

He is certainly turning your results around.

I still haven't forgiven your lot when Bullard scored two screamers at our place

yeah. Can't wait. I live in cornwall but go to Ipswich for a week each year to visit friends so don't get to many games. Imagine my joy when that week coincided with the derby match at fortress PR!
I reckon you could get yours back soon, one way or another.

Ipswich have always been a strong side in top two divisions.
Normally in or around the favourites every season in championship.

Keane is a dog awful manager, a money spender and that's it.
Jewell unsuccessful ultimately.
Malky here was better without money, although not many exciting watchable games with him.
(Unless you liked your heart in ur mouth in last 10mins wishing a team doesn't equalise or win).

Ole was up and down like a milkman's handbrake!

Both Cardiff and Ipswich should look at Southampton model when it comes to managers
And youth team set up. Both Ipswich and Cardiff have no close clubs other than our big rivals, unlike Northern, midlands or London clubs.

As a Cornish lad, you are half welsh (same language with some different dialect words).
I know a Cornish guy who follows Cardiff City!

I think you will be in or around the play off, 5th - 9th
