" TODAY " ' Stroll in the Park '

Bath City 1 Cardiff City 1

Crowd 1,032 including 780 Cardiff, not including those who got in for nothing

3 Sides of the stadium were BLUE :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

A lot of experience played today, but very little to show for the talent we have at our disposal.

First half centre half's looked comfortable against a Southern Conference side.

Honestly not really much to say to be positive about.

Guerra made his debut and Hmm

Macheda did at least hit the bar.

Simon Moore ,Gunnarsson,Connolly, Turner, Fabio, Daehli, Eikrem, Kiss, Whittingham, Guerra and Macheda .

Second half

Simon Moore,Brayford, Hudson, KTC, Decklan John, Mutch,Ralls, Burgestaller, Le Fondre,Mason and Berget.

Declan John made a few good runs.

Le Fondre had chances but wasted them .

Nice goal by Berget, Good strike :ayatollah:

Conceding a sloppy goal, by former City player Zak Evans, but it was like watching a stroll in the park.

Let's be honest this match was about getting the players fit and it was more like a training game. :ayatollah:

Remember its only a pre-season friendly :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Pre-season is never really about winning, its about getting match fit. Players will tend to never try their hardest so as to avoid injury.

Sorry but we should be winning games like this, pre season or otherwise. No harm done though.

Re: " TODAY " ' Stroll in the Park '

Sat Jul 12, 2014 3:27 pm

When we won the league we had a shit pre season. :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Re: " TODAY " ' Stroll in the Park '

This early on its about fitness, nothing more.

That can be seen by the preseason regime. No one is getting more than 45 minutes.

Actually...we didn't:

28th July Forest Green Rovers 1–0 Cardiff City
31 July Cheltenham Town 0–4 Cardiff City
4 August Oxford United 1–2 Cardiff City
7 August Bournemouth 1–2 Cardiff City
11 August Cardiff City 4–1 Newcastle United

Cardiff played with 10 men when they conceded the goal. Last 20 min was 10 men vs 11. KTC off due to injury.

It's pre season for bath too.

True but I would have been more worried if they had scored against 11 men.

Yes but no player in their right mind is going to want to risk a crunching tackle when they know if they cock it up it could mean broken bones etc in pre- season. If anyone here has ever done any sort of sport or training then you know that you don't want to risk yourself until it means something. When you have something to win and something to loose it means a whole lot more in your mind.

That's from wiki and only shows the last 5 first team fixtures.

This seasons equivalent does not start until we go on tour.

No that is our pre-season results from the year we went up? I was just showing that we won four of our five fixtures there that season, so not really a bad pre season.
Edit: Sorry I see what you mean, any fixtures before that haven't been included.

Bet Newcastle was in meltdown I'm sure they thought they would finish bottom of the league losing to a championship side ;) It's preseason results mean nothing

I've been trying to find the earlier friendlies but I don't think there are any.

Was that the season we just done a training camp in Switzerland?

Seems our friendly results weren't bad at all.

That was the season Newcastle narrowly avoided relegation in 16th place - and yes, their fans were in meltdown!

I remember Pardew saying in post match interview he thought we'd win the league I remember thinking at the time "haha yeh right o"

Re: " TODAY " ' Stroll in the Park '

The pitch was awful, lot's of bobbles and misplaced passes/shots.

I thought Fabio and John looked sharp.

Daehli showed some beautiful skills, but overall it was mainly half-paced.

Get a grip people. It's only pre season!

Yes I think that year we went to Switzerland. The above is all I can find also, seems we started late that year.

ffs way people are moaning about result you think we will get relegated over result?

Re: " TODAY " ' Stroll in the Park '

The pitch didn't help. Would've been a lot easier for us. It suited Bath's direct game far more. We hit the post and the bar. All in all a fairly normal preseason fixture. Nothing special or disasterous.

Leyton Orient 6 1 Newcastle , Newcastle stormed the championship that season

Well my son and I enjoyed the day regardless of the result. Let's be honest City could have been well up at half time.

Fair play Annis, reading this post is actually more exiting than the game itself! ;)

Re: " TODAY " ' Stroll in the Park '

Imagine genuinely taking pre-season results seriously. Newcastle got hammered 5-0 by Leyton Orient when they dicked the Championship. It's just about match fitness. A glorified training session if you will.

Re: " TODAY " ' Stroll in the Park '

Sat Jul 12, 2014 5:32 pm

Next week we will have more to take. 2 games with 2 squads on same day, so 90 mins for each team to get a good runout rather than just a half.

we should really be winning games like this 5-0

maybe they including ole aren't upto it

More questions than answers for me. Can't say I was really impressed with any of our new strikers. mutch, Daeli, and Declan caught my eye but we need a lot more.
I hope we keep Campbell.
