Di Marzio: Inter continues to pursue Medel

Elmar Turial Friday July 11th, 2014

According to gian lucadi marzio

Inter Milan continues to be interested in Gary Medel. But the Nerazzurri doesn’t have a strong sense of urgency to complete the deal right away. There hasn’t been any recent updates on the club’s pursuit of the midfielder.

Inter does have confidence since they’ve already offered Medel a 5 year deal with an annual salary of €1.8 million.

The player appears to be open to the offer, however Inter has yet to reach an agreement with Cardiff City despite offering to purchase Medel with payments spread out over 5 years.

On Monday contacts between both parties are expected. Inter continues to be interested in Medel.

It's normal practice for all football transfers. It's how you'll be paying for players you purchase as well.

Clubs won't pay that way as they are receiving fees themselves over years.

It's just how it works.

NJ, I know that, I'm just saying how Tan works, but I agree with Tan on this.

Some do, it depends how much they want him, certainly they can do better than five years if they want to !!!

Thankfully, there are a number of clubs trying to move away from this method of payment, choosing instead to pay in lump sums or recieve in lump sums. Newcastle, as an example - I remember reading that Mike Ashley was horrified when he discovered how much money Newcastle were still paying out for players who weren't even on their books anymore, and it's one reason they were in so much shit a few years back.

Whatever way you look at it, £10m spread over 5 years by a team regularly in the Champions League is a joke. I have no doubt our club can get a better deal than that.
