Hmm

Ole would still like him to stay at City but can not guarantee him first team football.

Leicester club call

Friday 11th July 2014

Leicester end striker interest Leicester City.

Latest news update:

Leicester have ended their interest in Cardiff striker Fraizer Campbell after baulking at the player's £40,000-per-week wage demands.

The Foxes had activated the £800,000 release clause in the former Manchester United youngster's deal and it was thought to be a question of when, not if, Campbell would join having made it clear he wished to stay in the Premier League. Leicester boss Nigel Pearson has now pulled the plug on the deal though after the two parties failed to reach a compromise over the 26-year-old's wages.
Pearson is eager not to break the club's wage structure and will therefore look elsewhere in his pursuit to bolster his attacking options.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are now said to be the favourites to sign Campbell having also activated the release clause in his Cardiff contract.

Agree with this. He has been looking to get away so I hope he gets his wish. Pity mind because a fully committed Campbell would have been great at this level.

It's Campbell's agent who negotiates, not Campbell himself. But have you considered the reason such a high wage has been requested is because Campbell might be very happy here and he might only think about a huge offer to consider wanting to leave us? I will be delighted if Campbell's agent continually prices him out. Campbell's attitude and work rate on the pitch is second to none and nobody can ever question his passion and desire on the pitch for us. Campbell's pace and work rate with Guerra's intelligence and finishing could destroy defences in the Championship. I hope Campbell stays.

What a load of Bollox....he spoke to leicester.....he wants out.

And he do run around and puts a good shift in and I admire him for that... but his first touch is appalling.

He can go for me, not deadly enough, even at this level he's not exactly prolific.

Le fondre or Macheda and Guerra will do nicely I reckon.

Of the strikers in total, i'd keep the above 3 and mason and get shot of the others, except maybe Maynard as he might have something to offer.

How do you know it's a load of bollox? If Campbell really wanted out, his agent wouldn't demand such a big wage! Every agent chances things with a big demand to start to try and get the very best deal for the player he's representing, that's how football negotiations work.

Re: ' And its a NO for Fraizer Campbell '

For me, Fraizer isn't £40k per week material. He is good, but not that good.

If he has the confidence in his own ability, then he should be looking for a descent wage plus goal bonuses. That way, he will be earning what he deserves. IMHO Palace must be desperate if they need to pay those sort of wages for him.

And you don't think Campbell asks for high demands either? Hence why Campbell hired his agent in the first place :? Campbell wanted to get out of here as soon as relegation was confirmed.

Our strikers for next season should be ALF, Guerra, Mason, Macheda and a fully fit, not overweight Maynard

He did? Where did you get that from?

If Campbell stays, then we will have a very good striker who will score many goals at this level. I don't hold the fact that he was looking for another move back to the premiership against him, every human in the world looks for the best opportunities to make money/get higher in their career.

If he stays, then great. We've got a hard working striker who will score lots. If he goes? good luck and thanks for the memories. :ayatollah:

The poor attitude against Chelsea, a real change in personality considering he thrived and was adored for being a workhorse.

I genuinely can't see him playing for us much if he stays, he'll just be a burden to us on his high wages. I still think he'll leave, we didn't get three strikers in and not expect Campbell to go IMO

Sorry don't buy it. Campbell wants out. The same day as the club was relegated the mirror had a story about how all these clubs wants him for 800k. Reckon that came straight from his agent, come and get me. There are other players like mutch and mats that are gonna be more attractive to clubs due to age and bigger talent. The chairman said as much about mats that he could move to a premiere league club tomorrow if he wanted been lots of interest around him. You won't hear the stories in the media because he is not looking for a move. Mutch could also leave if his agent shopped him around i.e put it out there. Be very surprised if campbell is still around when the season starts.

At championship level, he is lethal. If he can be motivated, he's a 'keeper'.

Loved his attitude last year but would prefer 11 hungry players who want to be there every time. Give Jo mason a go and send the big earners on their way if their heads are elsewhere.

He's on 35 k a week here so he's bound to ask for more otherwise it's pointless him moving. You can't blame him there's no loyalty in modern football everyone has his price

Gotta keep him he's gonna be England's main striker within 18 months.

You heard it here first. Actually some biff said it first and he's not Premiership quality let alone England quality but hey ho.

I love the old....it's his agent line lol. The Player hired his agent to do that work.

I don't see how any manager can guarantee a striker a place.

Obviously, players hire agents to get them the best deal possible. It's not just Campbell's agent, it's every players agent. So yes, the it's his agent line is true.

Agree everyone would do the same in their jobs, we all want the best pay just we think its different in football and they should show loyalty.

Saying that think if we can hold onto Campbell we should but if he goes we have enough up front to cover him. :ayatollah:
