I am 95% sure that the 25 man squad size is a Premier League regulation and in the Football league you can have as many players signed as you like. I seem to recall Reading having 40 contracted players when they were promoted.

In saying that you would not want to carry too many more players than that as it is wasted wages.

A big squad helps with the long season and to cover injuries/suspensions, its trying to keep them all as happy as possible thats probably the hardest thing.
