Inter Milan's sporting director Piero Ausilio has now confirmed that the club are in discussions over a move for Gary Medel.

Speaking to the press in Chile, he explained.

'We are in contact with Cardiff about Medel. He is a brave, very good player and had a great World Cup but we cannot talk about the issue.'

Interesting way to not talk about it I must admit.

Reports are somewhat all over the place though as some say Inter have offered us a loan fee of less than one million for the player for the season including a purchase clause believed to be in the region of £7.6million, but that's hardly a reasonable return, especially as there's no guarantee we wouldn't just be wasting a year of his contract because Inter would be under no obligation to buy at the end of it.

Apparently though Inter's Indonesian owner Erick Thohir is said to be a good friend with Vincent Tan, so some suggest that relationship will push the deal through.

Chairman Mehmet Dalman has already made his thoughts clear on any potential deal this summer, and I doubt a loan fee of less than one million would cut much mustard in our boardroom.

Other reports say that Medel has already had personal term discussions with Inter though, so with a loan deal being the existing contract terms, if fresh terms have been discussed then clearly talks are of a permanent nature.

Those reports say that personal terms have been agreed on a three year deal with 1.6million euros per annum, but that a fee hasn't yet been agreed with Cardiff so that's a bit premature and possibly naughty unless we've given permission ahead of time.

However these reports also build on the loan suggestion, but say the purchase clause would automatically come into effect if he played 50% of their games next campaign.
