Hard worker, wish we'd kept him. So under rated by our fans.

Fabio and Noone will rinse them for pace. Nothing to worry about :thumbright:

I think weve lost a very decent player there but can understand the reasons. Good luck to the guy apart from when they play us i hope we stuff them. :bluescarf:

I see Wigan being promotion contenders anyway but adding a player like Cowie to their squad will really give them options and depth. Whatever everyone thinks, players like Cowie are essential for a cold Tuesday night at Rotherham. We will miss him a lot more than people think and our loss is definitely Wigan's gain.

I will not miss him tbh, but naturally wish him best!

I think Wigan will be top 3 come May.

You need someone like him in the championship. We've got a lot of flair players and attacking quality but defensively it's Dikcagoi and Gunnar and neither of those are out wide. Certainly Burgstaller, Noone, Dæhli and Kim represent four very decent wingers with different styles but at times you need to close out games and Players like Cowie are a big part of that.

Also, no player that scores a penalty in a final deserves the amount of shite that he got. Cardiff City Proppa fans :laughing5: :laughing5:

At 31 Don Cowie did what was probably best for Don Cowie.A two or 3 year contract would be a good move at his age even if he had to take a wage cut.I would also say he's probably got a couple of years left at his best. All the best Don but have mare against us please.

My impression is that burgstaller is not like mats, Kim or noone. He is a big powerful lad, described himself as the kind of player that never gives up. Sounds like he will put in a shift.
Like I said in a different thread even Kim will have a hard time getting into the team this season so you can see why Cowie left.

It will be interesting to see, one thing is for sure if we were signing Taylor and Cowie now, we wouldn't be happy would we ???

  :thumbright: :thumbright: I'm with you on this Tonteg :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Wigan have been a footballing team playing a modern passing style of football. If Wigan wanted him, then it makes me wonder if the club got this wrong

Him and Taylor going is a happy sign for me.

It's been plainly obvious for months that DC wanted out, & that's exactly what he's got.

As a team, we move on. Its a tough world out there, & there's no room for sentiment. If you don't want to play, then you know where the door is.

Thanks Don, & all the best.

I liked him when he first came to us but never rated him from his 2nd season on, a battler no doubt but I felt that he offered nothing to us going forward, you just knew when Cowie was brought on that was the end of attacking football, nevertheless I wish him all the best apart from when we play Wigan.
Thank you for your services Don

Always give 100% and 'Mr Duracel' could have been very useful in the Championship wish him well but hope he plays rubbish in the both games against us. :bluescarf:

I think we have got this wrong ThomasC. Cowie never had the pace or dribbling ability to beat a player on the wing but he's a very underrated footballer who rarely gave possession away. Who else is going to do the less glamourous off the ball donkey work to allow our more talented, skillful players to shine? Who else will be able to cover every blade of grass and keep going on those cold winter nights when we have fixture congestions in poor conditions on poor pitches?

You could always depend on Cowie to keep going to the very end, winning the ball and using his superior fitness to get to the loose balls first before the tiring opposition. There will be games this season, particularly in the winter where neither team can play to their best because of conditions and tiredness. We will sorely miss Don Cowie in these games, as these are the types of games where the team with the extra fitness, desire and character pulls through.
