Cardiff still in the chase for Fonte

Cardiff reportedly had a bid turned down for defender Jose Fonte according to the Daily Mail within the region of £3 million.
Fonte who featured regularly in the Saints team was of reported interest to Solksjaer who is looking to replace Steven Caulker. Caulker appears to be set on his way out of the Welsh Capital to London to join either Crystal Palace or QPR. With Cardiff already recruiting a number of players, the signature of Fonte would prove to be an important one as quality at the back towards the end of games was often what cost them points in the Premier League.
The solidarity and strength of Fonte would be welcomed at Cardff. The defender’s Premier League experience which has seen him play 48 premier league games with five goals to his name shows that he would be an ideal addition to their defence now.
Although the bid was rejected, Cardiff are likely to come back with an improved offer and if they do, it could question Southampton’s stubbornness to get rid of the defender.

As much as I'd love this, breaks my heart seeing what's happening to Southampton this summer. As a neutral, I loved watching them since they got to the top flight, but they've got a hell of a job to do next season.

They have raked in a fortune already, is it not something like £60m???
As long as they re-invest it wisely, they will be fine.

I guess the thing here is if the new manager koeman wants fonte, could just sell him and get a new cb in then for the saints
