Ole offered Caulker £40,000 a week, Caulker wanted double from Liverpool and Everton, who then closed the door on him.
Palace offered about £40,000 with a £2 mill bonus if they stayed up.
But I believe the winners will be QPR who are offering £60,000 a week plus a bonus Hmm
QPR confident of sealing deal for Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker this week

Sources close to the Queens Park Rangers manager say Caulker WILL be back in London for the new season, playing alongside Rio Ferdinand
QPR boss Harry Redknapp believes he will clinch the signing of Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker for £8m over the next few days.
Sources close to the Queens Park Rangers manager say Caulker will be back in London for the new season, playing alongside Rio Ferdinand.
The deal for Ferdinand, who was released by Manchester United, has yet to be finalised and won’t be until after the World Cup ends, but Redknapp feels confident he will add Caulker to his squad quickly.
A fee has been agreed with QPR, and Bluebirds’ manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Caulker will be left to make his own decision on a move with Liverpool and Southampton also reported to be interested in the 22-year-old.
“It’s up to Steven if he goes,” said Solskjaer. “The lure of Premier League football might be too much for us to hope he might stay here. He has to make that decision.”
Caulker joined Cardiff last summer from Tottenham but was unable to keep the club in the Premier League and looks certain to move on.
Ferdinand, 35, is expected to sign for newly-promoted QPR on a free transfer as soon as the World Cup ends.
Peckham-born Ferdinand spent 12 years at United, making 455 appearances and winning six Premier League titles, two League Cups, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
Solskjaer has already added five new signings to his squad over the summer and is still keen to replace Caulker with a quality centre-back.
Southampton’s Jose Fonte is one of the targets for Solskjaer and Southampton have already turned down a £4m bid from the Bluebirds.

He was a good player, but there's been many like him before as will there be after.
Had he stayed at Cardiff for the fight to return, he would've won many plaudits from fans and peers.
But no one can deny any player a chance to play in the money league.

He didn't look up for it the last few months maybe the fight isn't in him,I think we can replace him easy enough fonte would have been perfect even if it's a bit over ambitious it would have been shrude business by ole which has been the theme so far

Remember the days when footballers played football cause they loved the game, now it's a case of how much money they can screw clubs for with zero loyalty

The days of footballers playing for the love of the game and club have gone, very little loyalty left these days money has changed football forever.

Agreed. People said similar when we lost Gabbidon, Collins, Johnson, Loovens et al, but they were all replaced.

The only good English players we have had in recent history who played for the shirt are Hudson and Whitts.
All the others are overrated and crap. Far better off trying to snap up the celtic talent from Ireland, Scotland and Wales and a few foreign players from elsewhere.
English players these days are like Tom Ince and Zaha - overrated prima donnas who are in it for the money and lifestyle.

its a sad factor but money talks
shame he didnt have a clause in his contract that said if we drop out the division you have to stay with us a season to help us get back out of it
see ya caulks thanks for nothing

Excuse me for being underwhelmed by Caulker leaving.

Gone are the days of player loyalty... But also clubs being loyal to players... Much like any other business I've heard of.

Come on guys, You can't question Calkers loyalty, How else would he get his Loyalty bonus...... Oh....

If ole pulls of signing fonte I am not bothered.

There are two good Scots you can add to the list of those 'playing for the shirt', Marshall and McNaughton.

Kav and McPhail were loyal enough, but CCFC means nothing to most Jocks and Paddies. We have had loads of loyal, English players over the years.

Seems wrong that I'm excited that he's going. Good ( not great) defender/ awful captain.
I wonder if he'll regret his greed where liverpool are concerned. Now he's signing up for another relegation scrap.

I think he's overated ,cala will come good this season and Turner ,Hudson. Fully fit are easily good enough for the championship

If bigger clubs were after Caulker and he turned them down (via cheeky try it on wage demands) then this is the same as him leaving Spurs for us. He wants first team football in the Premier League from the way it looks. In truth any move he makes, or doesn't has its risks. I just worry QPR might be a leaking ship as we were last year. But then who knows who else Dirty Harry will bring in over the summer? Probably another 20 players knowing him. Who knows he could be a star in a mid table team?
Good luck to him.

Cala and Fonte would be a great partnership in the Champ.
Thu Jul 10, 2014 5:21 am
Every time I see Fonte, he looks clumsy and slow
& he's getting older

Wish this one would hurry up. Its like the Steven Caulker show with the Cardiff news these days.
Holding out for Liverpool so it could drag on until the end of the transfer window too.
