Exclusive - Cardiff star Medel set to complete Inter Milan move
By talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) | Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Cardiff City star Gary Medel will join Inter Milan in the coming days, talkSPORT understands.

The Chilean midfielder will move to the Italian giants for around €10million, following the Bluebirds relegation from the Premier League.

The 26-year-old had attracted attention from Besitkas, but Inter Milan have beaten the Turkish side to the ex-Sevilla man.

It's understood Medel had a relegation clause in his contract at the Cardiff City Stadium and is expected to complete the switch in the coming days.

£8m is not to bad, he was only off for £4m to Turkey before the WC

I'll take that, takes his big wages off the bill too. Deserves to be at a big club, and really positive to see us doing business with a European giant!

Good luck Gary! I really enjoyed watching him last season, and wish him all the best in Italia! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Don't blame him. Way too good for the Championshit. Good luck Gary, thanks for the sweat and blood.

He was way too good for the Championship, had a great first half of the season but tailed off, he used the World Cup as a showcase for his talents and it has paid off.Good luck to him, we need players who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and battle it out in the championship at places like Rotherham on a wet Tuesday night.

So we lose £3 million on a player that has had a decent season in the Premiership (very good first half, average the second) goes to the World Cup, gets rave reviews and is one of his contries top performers out there in brazil, yet people think that losing £3 million is good business by the Malky and Moody double act :laughing5: :laughing5:
It is patently obvious that all the transfers done last year under those two were completely in favour of the player and not the club. It is now obvious that, Malky Mackay was no draw as a manager to influencing these players to come here, only the 'can't say no' contracts that were offered to them. Week by week my already faltering faith in the Malky factor is diminishing faster and faster  :laughing6:

We are NOT losing £3m, we are getting back what we paid for him, the extra was what we would have had to pay if he made so many appearances, which now he will not

I think we paid £8m up front, with add ons that could amount to £11m on bonuses. Bonuses that were dependant on us staying up. In fees, I don't think we lost anything, just wages for a year which is to be expected.

I thought the Daily Mail said it was 11 mil rising to 15 mil?

Happy with that fee.

I think he will do well in Italy.

There's plenty of reports that state we paid 13 million euros for him, so as said below, all depends which ones you believe

True :thumbright:

The over all package was, but we needed to stay up.

so what your saying is the Ross transfer might be the total package too, and if Fulham go down and he has a release clause the quoted figure goes down............and we have to give the money back.?

I wish him all the best - he was a great player for us before Christmas (can't say the same after unfortunately) but he hasn't really showed us any respect since the World Cup (in my opinion)... Good Luck Gary! :ayatollah:

Didn't rate him personally slow as f**k,not very creative(passed the ball sideways more often than not) and as for the nickname pit bull,I thought poodle would have been more appropriate, not a fan of his sorry

those pics with him and the fans on the train from Manchester were class. Seemed a real decent fella. I felt the team relied on him too much (in particular Whitts) at the start of the season.

He was the defensive shield, also being asked to spread the ball all over the pitch when the midfielders in front were shying away from that responsibility!

I think he knew his teammates weren't up to it & his form suffered when he lost confidence in his teammates.

I do think he looked a bit heavy mind! could do with trimming down for his debut Serie A season :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Gary medal centre half in world cup for chile. Stands as perhaps the best cb in tournament. 8million

David Luiz centre half in world cup for brazil. A worldwide joke. 50 million.

Who got better deal inter or psg? Lol.

Best of luck Gary. Loved seeing u in person. Calm, composed, great reader of game and never overplayed. Knew his limitations and has excelled in his career despite them. Wish we could of loaned him out and took him back next year for our 2nd premier league season.

Heres a three year contract mate double your money afterall you only got a two year contract where your working on half that money.....Yes 99% of people would consider staying to....NOT. Its THERE job and fans seem to think players play for us because they love the club and us fans when in real terms they couldnt give two hoots and do there job as long as it pays more same as anyone of us :bluescarf:
