Cardiff City set for sell-on clause windfall after Fulham agree £11m deal with Leeds United for striker Ross McCormack - reports - by Simon Gaskell
The Bluebirds are set to profit after Fulham agreed a mega deal to take 29-goal hitman McCormack to Craven Cottage.
Cardiff City are set for a transfer windfall after Fulham reportedly agreed to sign striker Ross McCormack from Leeds for £11m.
Sky Sports reported news of the deal on Tuesday morning, revealing McCormack was set to put pen-on-paper on a four-year deal having turned down Premier League interest to sign for Felix Magath's side.
The Bluebirds, who themselves were credited with an interest in old boy McCormack earlier this summer, stand to receive 15% of the fee having inserted a sell-on clause in the deal that took McCormack to Leeds.
The 27-year-old Scottish international moved to Cardiff in 2008 from Motherwell on a free transfer and fired 30 goals in 89 games over three seasons.
He moved to Leeds in August 2010 for an undisclosed fee and was the Championship's top scorer last year.
McCormack reportedly told Leeds he wanted to leave last month and was granted extended leave this week.
He stayed in England while the rest of the Leeds squad travelled to Italy for a pre-season training camp.

Agreed. Transfer fees have been out of control for years, but this is ridiculous. As much as I loved Ross and as much as I rate Ross, no striker outside of a top division should be worth that amount.

Worth nowhere near £11m. Hopefully the sell on fee we get will go to our transfer budget.

Crazy money, I really hate the direction football is going, for the past so many years money has started to dictate football but it's getting ridiculous, £11 mill for a Championship striker aged 29! Thierry Henry possibly the Premier Leagues greatest ever striker didn't go to Arsenal for that much.
Easy money for us though. More fool Fulham.

Magath is known for spending. Also known for finding a bargain nobodys heard of.
He brought Dzeko to Wolfsburg for 2.5M and sold him 3 years later for 32M

£11m for Rossco! That has to be a record fee in the Championship?
It's funny how message board here-say turns into fact. So many people stated over the years that we didn't have a sell on clause. It turns out we do. Which would explain why we sold him for so little in the first place. Great work.

£11m

Never worth much more than £1-2m.
Not quite as bad as our waste on Cornelius but evcen the biggest McCormack fan can't believe he's worth £11m.

i loved Ross when with us, but 11 million, never ever worth even half of that........
its gonna be very difficult for him to move on if it doesnt work out too.

I thought he was maybe worth around 5 mill, Fulham are taking a big gamble to try and bounce back to the prem at the first attempt. I bet Leeds new owner can't believe he got 11 mill for him.
Good windfall for city though.

THIS BEGGARS BELIEF,WHY DO MANAGERS VALUE BRITISH PLAYERS WAY ABOVE THEIR PROPER VALUE.11MILL FOR A CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER!! IT'S NO WONDER OVERSEAS PLAYERS ARE COURTED AT 50% OF THE GOING RATE FOR AVERAGE BRITISH PLAYERS AT INFLATED PRICES.
