Solskjaer vows to keep David Marshall at Cardiff City
BY SEAN MAKIN ⋅ TUESDAY JULY 8, 2014 ⋅
Cardiff City boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has vowed to do everything he can to keep goalkeeper David Marshall at the club, reports Wales Online.
The 29-year-old has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Marshall’s former club Celtic after being the Bluebirds’ stand-out performer last season as the Welsh club suffered relegation from the Premier League.
Cardiff are rumoured to have rejected a £6 million bid from Arsenal for David Marshall
Solskjaer accepts he is likely to lose captain Steven Caulker, Gary Medel and Frazier Campbell, but he believes he can keep Marshall at the Cardiff City Stadium.
“David was excellent for us last season, the best goalkeeper in the Premier League,” Solskjaer told Wales Online.
“I am hoping to convince him to stick with us. It’s up to me really to sell the ideal of what we are going to be trying to do here next season and beyond that.
“Sell my philosophy to him if you like. I know he likes it at the club and is settled in the area, so we are hopeful he will be with us next season.”
Marshall joined Cardiff City for £500,000 from Norwich City in May 2009 and are rumoured to have slapped a £15 million price tag on the goalkeeper to warn off interes

If Marshall stays I'd be absolutely over the moon...... I would be very surprised if he stays & snubs Southampton tho

Not sure keeping Marshall is essential. Great keeper for us last year. However he is, I believe, an instinctive shot stopper, and one of the reasons he was so successful was because we were under lots of pressure in many games. This may not be the case in the Championship.
Not saying I don't want him to stay, just that it won't necessarily be a disaster if he leaves.

He kept us in hell of a lot of games the year we went up which turned out to be vital points.
