Cardiff City striker Fraizer Campbell faces uncertain future as Leicester City move stands on brink of collapse
Monday 7th July 2014
Campbell's proposed move to Leicester has hit the buffers over the striker's reported wage demands
The choice is down to Campbell. He can stay with Cardiff City, who have put a new, lucrative deal in front of the striker, or explore other options.
Cardiff City striker Fraizer Campbell's proposed move to Leicester City is in serious doubt as the player and club reached deadlock over his wage demands.
Newly promoted Leicester were first to trigger an £800,00 release clause in Campbell’s contract with the Bluebirds and it was thought the deal would have been confirmed by now.
But reports suggest the Foxes have a strict wage structure in place and are loathe to break that to capture Campbell who could now yet remain in the Welsh capital.
The frontman, who is back training with Cardiff, has been offered a new contract by the Bluebirds, but could still be tempted by a return to the Premier League. The move to Leicester may be on the verge of collapse, but Crystal Palace are also said to be interested in signing him.

I expect he'll follow wherever the best money is.
Not bothered either way tbh. He'll score goals for us next season but he's clearly not good enough for the prem.

Too many strikers on our books. I don't think Frazer suits the way we set up. Like his personality but best if he moves on I feel.

Keeping him would be a good investment as the $800.000 will be expired if its only tied to a relegation clause, his value could easily triple.

That's a very good point, although if he stays, we're going to have a hell of a lot of classy forwards, fighting for one place up front!

I liked Campbell last season for his efforts alone. But he I feel is not a Prem striker. But he like many others like Caulker seems not so interested in whats best for his football career just the size of his pay packet. And lets face it the money they think tbey are worth they live in cloud cuckoo land.

Not sure I agree that Campbell wasn't a Prem class player - personally, I felt it was our style of play that ensured he didn't quite fulfill his potential; he had to do so much running and chasing as an only striker, and I thought he did very well to get the 8 or 9 goals that he scored for us.
Personally, I think he should stay and fight for a place - he's more than capable and Ole has had more time to establish his footballing ethos which might still suit Campbell...

plenty of people saying Campbell isnt a prem class player.... two things about that, 1) we are no longer a premier team and 2) he didnt exactly have any help last season, and still scored a few goals.

Makes you wonder what sort of money he was asking for. Leicester City are a good club, thought he would have jumped at the chance.

i think he should do a bit of work on his Ego.
knuckle down and get 20 goals under his belt with us or with someone else.
for me he has never proved himself.

Gotta disagree with both of you here-I think Van Persie would have struggled for us up front last season because of the way we were set out.But it does not bode well for Leicester next season-all well and good having a wage structure but you do need quality to stay in the prem.

His ego?
Proved himself at Hull & also for the second half of our championship winning campaign.

have to agree...........unfair to be critical of a striker who was often our only outlet in a poor team....and he just got on with it,no rolling around, no standing waving his arms at everyone,he accepted the tough task rolled his sleeves up and gave his all..
wanting to remain in the prem in this day and age isnt an ego thing..it carries huge financial gains..huge... its just so easy to get a knock miss games or have a poor run that results in you getting lost in the championship and can long term cost you millions....

He'll have to drop his wage demands if he wants to get anywhere

This for me. He's a good striker but not a clinical one. Not really hit the back of the net too many times and only just getting over his injury problems. He thinks he's better than he actually is

any player that wants to go......bye

Paul, some good points there

I am a Campbell fan

It's a concern though that these players can't get prem clubs because of wages, even on a low fee.
