SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP
Cardiff City’s David Marshall targeted by Southampton

CARDIFF CITY, DAVID MARSHALL, SKYBET CHAMPIONSHIP
Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall is a transfer target for Southampton, reports the Mail.
The Saints want Marshall
The Scot was considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League last season, after putting in a string of sensational displays but was unable to prevent the Bluebirds from being relegated to the Sky Bet Championship.
Despite the excellent form of Artur Boruc, new Saints boss Ronald Koeman wants to make Marshall his first official signing since being appointed as the club’s manager following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham.
The South Coast outfit are not short of money after selling Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw for a combined fee of almost £60m and it is thought that they will need to double their £8m offer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side value the shot-stopper, who kept eight clean sheets last season, at £15m.

Be shocked if he goes for £8m.
Personally think he'll stay, few would pay the £15m we want.
Worth £15m+ though.

Think he deserves to go to a better club than Southampton.

Don't sell to a club like Southampton unless we get the full 15 mil. Over the last 5 yrs they have only sold their players for their full valuation. Likes of Walcott oxlade llalana Shaw, so why can they think we would sell a player to them for 55% of our valuation.

Marshall also wants to be Scotland's No 1. He won't displace a fit again Alan McGregor if he's sitting on a bench somewhere.

Southampton is a more likely target than a top 6 club.

8m seems about right to me. If that's an opening offer though I'd try and push it up to 10m.

Money in football is getting stupid, with some of the reports of the money getting thrown around, £10 mill for Rossco, £18 mill for Lovren from Southampton etc. If we can't keep hold of Marshall we need to hold out for as much money as possible.

They've just received over £30 million for some teenage full back, as well as over £20 million for Lallana.
Make sure they pay the FULL asking price if they want him.
In fact, make them pay £20 million - they can afford it!

I must be blind didn't see this thread when I commented in another thread about Marshall going to Southampton.
Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Southampton Ready £8m Offer For Goalkeeper
Monday 7th July 2014.
Southampton are preparing an £8m offer for Cardiff City’s David Marshall.
New manager Ronald Koeman is looking to make his first signing since his appointment at St Marys and has identified the stopper as the ideal candidate.
Marshall was in outstanding form last season for the Welsh side but was unable to save them from relegation to the Championship.
According to the Daily Mail, Southampton are set to make their move for the keeper, but Cardiff are said to value Marshall closer to £15m.
The south coast club are desperate to start bringing players into the club after letting a number of their stars leave the club so far this summer.
Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana have already been sold to Liverpool, with teenage sensation Luke Shaw completing a £32m move to Manchester United.
Koeman has been promised any funds raised through player sales, and is desperate to land a keeper to strengthen his defensive steel.
If Marshall’s asking price is too high, Saints will turn their attention to Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster, after making an enquiry for the England international.
