Walk in memory of Mair Daniel

Sun Jul 06, 2014 7:02 pm

Good evening fellow Bluebirds,

I will be doing a 10km walk on Saturday 13th September in memory of my Grandmother Mair Daniel who passed away with dementia.

Many of you will remember my Grandmother from the days when she used to run the Adar Glas Supporters Club with my Grandfather (Roy) and my dad (Doug).

I had many good seasons with her in the Family Enclosure at Ninian Park when I was a junior Bluebird. To this day I thank her and my dad for taking me to my first away game at Carlisle, the start of a wonderful journey supporting the City.

All donations will be greatfully received.

I was her partner playing darts against west brom fans in their supporters club some years back unfortunately the night descended into violence as the comedian told a pretty grim joke about aberfan an got glassed for his behaviour.
Mair was an absolute lady

I would just like to agree with earlier comments on the thread. She was an absolutely lovely person, as were Roy and Doug. Travelled dozens of times with them in the late 70's/early 80's, before we started up our own coach, or started travelling on the train. Used to get on at the Star in Ystrad Rhondda. Always would have a look in the black bags, and tut tut at the amount of our empty flagons in there. Great memories, me, Ken, Grun, Lanky Rees, Coot, Trevor and all the original Rhondda 1015 Crew. Good luck with the walk, hope it goes well.

Sorry to hear about the passing of your grandmother, my gran has got dementia too it really is a very bad and sad illness. I remember your gran on the Adar Glas bus back in the 1990s, when i used to go to nearly all of the away games with my late father. It was a great adventure on the bus back then, i loved every trip. Your gran was a fantastic lady and she always made everbody very welcome on the bus. I shall always remember her, as she and Merlin are the only people i can remember from those trips back then. Come to think of it i just remembered another two people. One was Big Jon who went to every City away game in the same jacket, who whenever we stopped at the services on the way to the game, was always the last one to get back on the coach and when he did he always came back with a pint or two of milk and a newspaper. The other person that i can remember was a little guy in his 40s-50s called Norman, i think he had a few learning difficulties or something, he wore glasses and also a hearing aid possibly two and he used to travel on the coach with his father. If i remember correctly Norman sadly passed away a couple of weeks or months before City won the Title in 1993, it was his dream for City to win Promotion as Champions, but sadly he missed it.

Yes, there were some terrific people on the coach back in those days and to me your Grandmother Mair was the best out of the lot, it was people like her that made following City a fantastic adventure.

R.I.P Mair.

Good luck with everything mate.

Bloooooobirds.
