Michael Keane?
Destination Cardiff?
Sunday 6th July 2014.
Although Manchester United have lost the services of both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic it would appear that one of our promising young centre-backs isn`t in the running to fill the void.
Reports in the Sunday press, this morning, infer that Michael Keane, a centre back that spent parts of last season on loan at Derby County and Blackburn Rovers could be set for another spell in the Championship.
Apparently our old friend Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has ambitions of raiding his former club to take Keane, who is now 21 years of age, to the Cardiff City Stadium to assist in the Welsh clubs quest of an immediate return to the Premier League.
It would appear that all it requires is the approval of Louis van Gaal to agree to a season long loan spell.
We`ll endeavour to report further if we hear anything else.

Would make sense we have experience at CB already some youth would be good. A year younger than Caulker.

Would be happy with this. Chips in with goals too

Yet another Man Utd reject who has been nothing more than adequate at Championship level. We need better.

Derby were very unlucky not to gain promotion with him in their team last season!

Hardly a reject. He was their reserve team player of the year and has 3 decent loan spells at good Championship clubs.
Seen him a few times and he looks a very good prospect. Dominant in the air and tidy on the deck.
It's a big 'yes' from me.

Same here!
Can't understand some people labelling players as rejects, especially as it's hardly a failure, just missing out at arguably the world's biggest club!

Zaha - yeah probably a United reject but hasn't been given the chance at all
Fabio - hahahahaha a reject when he played in a Champions League final
Macheda - just didn't get into the team but his scoring record in the Championship is decent
Eikrem - Not given a chance
Daehli - highly rated
Michael Keane played for Derby who narrowly lost out on promotion and Blackburn who finished strongly in the top 12.
We need better

You seem to forget we got relegated. If this comes to fruition it will be decent business and prove Ole has used his contacts to his advantage, very shrewd business

is this anti Man Utd stuff a wind up?

I think he'd fit in well tbh, just the case of whether he starts next to Cala because Juan seems like the definite starter for me.

Would be delighted if this comes true

He is not a reject, well no more so than chaulker was at tottenham at the same age. keane was on the bench for manu against Hull. 21 years old considered a good prospect.

He is a talent; he'd do a great job for us.
Mon Jul 07, 2014 11:32 am
Hope he's better than his brother Will. Absolutely shit.
We've had numerous Man Utd loans down the years & I can't think of a single decent one.

Do you all think Michael Keane will improve us now?

No i don't,we need someone alongside Morrison/Hudson/etc who is commanding in the air, good on the deck and not naive in his positional play, Keane would be a liability for us i'm afraid.

Realistically Daehli is the only one that was still wanted at Old Trafford. Fabio could have still been a Man U player if he didn't have so many injuries imo. Same level of talent as his brother.
Zaha doesnt look to have a future at Man U, Van Gaal substituted 2 academy players tonight and Zaha remained on the bench. Would like to see us get Keane, he is a good passer of the ball which we desperately need.
