' Stephen Caulker '

Any more news on Caulker joining QPR Annis? Would be a good signing for us especially if as it looks he will be teamed up with Rio Ferdinand (hopefully for 12 months and no more).

Haven't frequented this board since before our play off success and believe it or not, I missed it. On purpose aswell. Booked a holiday in January and at the time I knew that it would be likely that we would end up in the play offs given the way we were performing and my general misery on what football has become (I am sure that there are many on this board who feel the same after one season in the League of the Devil' Spawn). It was only the wife that convinced me that I should find a Giving it large that they would wipe the floor with us, that we would go bankrupt if we didn't go up. Thought that they were a bunch of Jacks for a moment. Anyway, bought my pint, settled down to watch a game that was even to the end of the first half, listening quietly to what was being said behind, and responding at times that frankly I couldn't give a monkeys about the result, and I really didn't given the previous experience in the Prem, which I have documented on here. Second half starts, still with the same pint, life getting more noisy and jovial behind me and then Gary O'Neil 'takes one for the team'. Sheer pandemonium behind me now, all the songs about the Rams going up, my club going bust, looking forward to another visit to the City Ground etc, etc. And all the time Derby pressing but not doing much. Five minutes from time I turn round and say to one of the sheep blokes that I just had this feeling that today wasn't going to be their day. Four minutes later that immortal piece of commentary 'ZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOORRRRRRAAAAA!!!!!!!', and I've gone up like a space rocket. Only then I realised that I did care and after I came back down from orbiting the earth did I realise that the bar was emptied, save for one bloke in the corner who was smiling away and revealed himself as a Forest supporter!

Still now we have the Prem to look forward to, if that is the phrase to use. Am expecting the worst but maybe with signings like Caulker then it may be different. If not then maybe we can flog him back to the Bluebirds as you return! :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

First of all you will get a quality defender :thumbright:

But his wages, demands and his contract are outrageous, if what I am hearing is all correct .

Deal done between both clubs after Caulker failed to agree personal terms with Everton and Liverpool.

I have heard though even though QPR have offered him a massive deal, he is still thinking it over.

At Cardiff, Caulker was in our top 3 wages, with add ons etc.

He is a good solid Centre back although I will admit when we signed him I thought we were getting a better player than we actually got. Still young though, 8m is about right.

Annis, I think Caulker is atypical of 'modern' footballers. Could have gone to LIVERPOOL or Everton (two of the most iconic football clubs in world football) but chose QPR (admittedly a London club) instead! :o

I fully understand that footballers are not as highly paid as those of us in the real world, but surely if he had any real ambition, he could have forgone a couple of shillings a week to play for a top top club like LIVERPOOL?

Liked Caulker for us, but the mind boggles and I think he may come to regret this decision when his career has ended

LIVERPOOL or QPR?? Sorry QPR fans, but it shouldn't really be a contest and puts the term "no-brainer" firmly into Caulker's head IMHO

Caulkers a good player, but far from the finished article. I wouldnt put your hopes up to high with him. Potential huge yes, but is prone to errors hence our relegation. Think hes overhyped so much because hes young and english

You are right and it shows what is sad about modern football, no loyalty other than to the next big pay day, and with agents hawking their clients every 6 months when the transfer window opens. One positive for Caulker if he did come to Loftus Road is that he would get a hell of a lot more game time than at Liverpool, which may have had an influence. If he did do well then a bigger club would pay the big bucks. Thank god though for the likes of Clint Hill and Ale Faurlin. Both have just signed one year deals and were desperate to stay, Hill knowing that there is a good chance that he would not be in the final 25, but wants to develop a coaching career with the club he now regards as his own, and Faurlin, who just loves the club. Decent, honest people as well.

Caulkers missus is in college in cardiff which could be a factor in any move. it was the reason he went on loan to swansea and then signed for us.
probably like the rest of us he will think about it and mull it over for a bit and then do what his missus tells him

Kind of agree with this it shows lack of ambition and that money is more important.

Indeed, Annis. Sky have been good for football in this country overall, but I'm not so sure it has been good for the money-orientated players. Total lack of realism from some (dare I point to Ince?) and loyalty to any of their clubs :(

Re: ' Stephen Caulker '

If he's offered good money at QPR, and therefore gets to stay in the Smoke, that's a result for Caulker. Perhaps he's underwhelmed by the Scousers, and doesn't fancy the area.

Re: ' Stephen Caulker '

Good solid defender, not as good as he probably thinks he is and again probably looked better due what was around him last season. Will fit in a bottom half club but no more, good luck to him anyway, we'll pass him by in 12 months on our way up! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

If he is alongside Rio, you have a top signing. Lot of jacks say if he has experienced man alongside him he is a top prem CB.

Going on your reaction from a year ago I take it your gutted to be going back to the soulless league? Leaving the slightly more real world of the championship.....or is that all forgotten now??
