Honestly don't think he is cut out for the Championship, if I'm honest don't rate him at all

Re: Cala

Then you don't know a lot about football

Cala impressed me! just needs to adapt to the English game, need to be tougher, but i'm pretty sure he's getting that drilled into him by OGS during pre season!

Re: Cala

Thu Jul 03, 2014 6:13 pm

I thought he was excellent in a number of games, confident on the ball and good in the tackle, needs to toughen up a little but I would hope that would come in time.

In saying that as good as he was at times his performance against sunderland was unbelievable, not just the sending off but everything he did in that game. Id expect him to start the season alongside Turner.

I think he will do well in the championship :bluescarf:

I think they could be a decent partnership. Big ball winner with decent ball player. Both with a bit of fight and both set piece threats.

However once again we will be looking at a pretty inexperienced back 4 with Turner and Cala 24/25, John and Fabio probably the 1st choice.
Can one of them take command ? We seem to be too quiet at the back.

Will also need a very good defensive mid in front of them.

We could do a lot worse.

Turner, Hudson, Cala to fight it out between them. With ole possibly signing one more.

Re: Cala

Thu Jul 03, 2014 6:27 pm

John, Hudson, Cala and Fabio for me!

Re: Cala

Thu Jul 03, 2014 6:27 pm

And your reason?, gotta have a reason why you think that

Re: Cala

Thu Jul 03, 2014 6:32 pm

To be fair mate I rate cala, it's turner I think is sh't

Well I'd like to know why you think that? I was impressed with him last season considering he only had half a season in a struggling side he done well.

Re: Cala

What I saw of him last season looked a tidy player and should perform in the Championship, also one of the few that I thought looked like he gave a sh*t. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: Cala

Thu Jul 03, 2014 6:59 pm

:laughing6: fecking clueless. He'll be more than comfortable in the Championship

Re: Cala

Thu Jul 03, 2014 7:01 pm

Not good enough at defending for me, would like to see him play as a holding midfielder though. Turner might not pass it out of the back well but he's a lot better defender than cala even if cala is the better footballer.

Re: Cala

Tidy player last season. I think he will be a great player this season

Re: Cala

Thu Jul 03, 2014 7:10 pm

I thought he was half decent in the Prem and will therefore be excellent in the Championship.

I know that doesn't always ring true but the biggest difference between the two leagues is the quality of strikers so he SHOULD be great.

Anyway I like him for his passion.

Re: Cala

my opinion is he wont handle the physical side of the championship also not a very commanding CH but there I know nothing about football like all of you, time will tell

Contradicting your own post there, you just said you don't rate him at all

Re: Cala

Cala was very impressive last season and his desire & passion is immense. His body language and frustration at Goodison Park showed what this club and winning means to him. Its exactly that attitude that we see in the world cup from the teams that have impressed most. Can't wait to see him this season and I honestly think he will be a stand out performer.

Ole wont play him in Midfield so I stand by my posts and that is why I agree with this post

Re: Cala

Cala is excellent, he came into a difficult situation last year. The ship was sinking, hardly the best way to settle into British football :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: Cala

I called early on that he should of been considered to fill in at Left Back. Most of our goals conceded came from our left. I understand the need to be patient with Declan John. However, we can consider he was not ready to handle the callibre of player who constantly exposed his weaknesses.

Fabio was only a slight improvement defensively. I would of put Cala in. I know he lacked pace, but would of been more aware of dangerous situations and alot more cynical!!!

I find most of these posts incredible. Did any of these people actually watch the game at Sunderland. which was televised for those that obviously missed it. Cala's very costly blunder reminded me of Andy Jordan and Rhys Weston combined. It cost us any hope we had in staying up. To my mind he owes us big time. I am nowhere near convinced he is good enough.
