' Sunderland preparing to increase their offer '

Please City dont sell Mutch, in my opinion it could be more costly in the long run as I rate him in our top 5 players who could help us go back up. :thumbright:

Black Cats must pay £5m for Bluebirds ace and are preparing to increase their offer

Cardiff CityJordon MutchSunderland

Sunderland must cough up £5million if they want to bring Jordon Mutch to the Stadium of Light, according to the Chronicle Live.

The midfielder has a release clause in his contract at Cardiff City, where he impressed in his 35 Premier League appearances despite being relegated.

Mutch only has 12 months left on his current deal with The Bluebirds since joining from Birmingham City in 2012 for £1million, so the Welsh club may be forced to sell to make a profit.

Sunderland are prepared to raise their original offer of £3.5mill and expect to this in the coming week.

' Contribution '

The 22-year-old was the man who turned the wheels in the centre of the park for Cadiff last season. Sunderland have already seen Mutch in play, after the former England under-21 international netted against them back in December, just one of seven he scored. He also contributed five assists, meaning he had a helping hand in over a third of Cardiff’s goals.

While The Bluebirds finished rock bottom and went straight back down to the Championship, they still managed to impress with their battling style of play.

Sunderland believe that Mutch is surplus to requirements in the English second division, but have already had a £3.5million bid rejected by the Cardiff City Stadium outfit, according to the Chronicle. Although Mutch is nearing the end of his contract, the Welsh side are holding out for an improved offer.

' Cardiff Exodus '

Cardiff have already seen their 27-year-old full-back Andrew Taylor leave the club, with an exodus of players expected; both Steven Caulker and Gary Medel have been linked with moves away.

As for The Black Cats, they have already brought in three players this transfer window, all on free transfers.

Manager Gus Poyet has signed defender Billy Jones from West Bromwich Albion, former Wigan Athletic man Jordi Gomez and ex-Manchester City keeper Costel Pantilimon. Poyet hopes these new signings can improve on Sunderland’s 14th place finish from last year.

Personally I would prefer to let him run his contract down if he doesn't want to sign as long as we get 1 more season from him.

Would want him to stay but only if he signs a new contract.

If he is holding out we HAVE TO accept anything around the £4 - 5 Million mark. For a start it covers the money we should have made from selling Campbell and losing him for nothing next summer is a total waste of money and we would all be complaining should it happen.

BBC stated he had a 5mil buyout clause, if they bid that we may not have much choice.

New contract now!!

Keep him as it us and we have a free agent end of season = £3-5m loss.

If he won't sign the best contract we can offer, he will go anyway.

Fingers crossed!!! :?

He was in the sky top 5 players this week for % of most influences made in a game. He also scored 7 prem league goals two of which were outstanding quality..

We should be building a midfield around him...

This.

I would love for Mutch to sign a new contract but I'm sure he won't. We can't honestly believe that the club haven't been trying to get him to renew before this summer. The way it looks is he wants to go. Better now for £5M than a years time for nout.

Yes he could have a pivitol role in a promotion winning year in the championship. In another scenario, he could equally be injured for big chunks of the season like he usually is.

Sell.

Plus. I would love to see us play Mats through the middle anyway. He is the real crown jewel.

I love mutch. I always get excited when he would be on the pitch. I highly rate him. And I think he has so much more to display to the Cardiff fans.

I like him but would sell him for that price, just put on a clause on him just incase, like Bournemouth and Lallana.

Not suggesting we are going to make millions from a future transfer like they did but 25% profit given to is would be good.
