20 years since the death of Escobar.

Today is the 20 year anniversary of the defender who was shot dead for conceding an own goal at USA 1994 and knocking his own country out...

Still so shocking! :shock:

Agreed. Think there were rumours he cost a gambling syndicate a lot of money by them not getting through. No proof though.

He was meant to go to las vegas after the world cup as his family lived there, he chose to go back to Colombia and was murdered. :shock:

Watched a documentary on him, fascinating how he used to run the jail as his home with jacuzzi , waterfalls & football pitch. Very powerful man & one of the richest in the world with 24 billions dollars :ayatollah: Bet he had some great party's

Faryd Mondragon who came on against Japan was a friend of his and was in the 1994 squad. Very emotional for him today I imagine.
