Cardiff City won't address the obvious elephant in the room

Wednesday 02nd July 2014.

A couple of days ago, the Cardiff City official website had a Q&A session with director Steve Borley, discussing the new tier to the Ninian Stand which is apparently on time to be completed.

Now Borley is a man who I respect more than the rest of the management of that club combined. That man has put his life and soul into the club to keep it going. There have been times when the club pretty much only stayed in existence because of this man, and that’s not me over hyping him. The man deserves to be seen as a Bluebird legend, but I can’t shake the feeling that there was a subject over looked in the Q&A, an obvious issue that really needs to be addressed.

If you can indulge me for a moment, I’m looking at the graphic on the official Cardiff City website. There’s the lovely new tier which will bring a lot of nice revenue when we get back to the Premier League next season, that’s all looking nice. The seats in the bottom tier are the nice blue colour with CARDIFF written across it, and the top tier……..has red seats.

I know this is a subject that has been kicked to death, but the stadium is going to look odd with 5,000 red seats and the rest in blue. When we have the Uefa Super Cup as the first match with the new stand being completed, these images are going to be beamed around the world of a stadium with two different colour seats. It is going to be embarrassing. I would have been bothered, but I would have preferred Borley to come out and say, yes the red and the blue does clash but we will be rolling out red seats all around the stadium as part of the rebrand soon, but he didn’t.

Instead, the whole subject was ignored. I do sometimes feel that when people have legitimate concerns about the running of our club, especially the rebrand, the powers that be stick their fingers in their ears and go ‘la la la I can’t hear you la la la’.

I’m trying not to be negative as I do think Vincent Tan is starting to soften his stance on the rebrand somewhat, but the seats should have been blue, if for no other reason to placate the fans until dialogue has been opened and final decisions have been made.

As it is we will have a two-tone stand, which will look ridiculous.

As ridiculous as the home kit, the badge. , not to mention the contents of the club shop! Called in there yesterday. Beyond woeful, as Alan Hansen might say.

Will look even worse Laying there empty if you don't get back in the premiership :laughing5:

Do you really think the rest of the football world cares that some of the seats at the CCS are red. I'm all for a return to blue, but to be honest, I think all blue seats looks a bit bland.

Blue and Red stands look ridiculous????

I think you'll find it works quite well at the Nou Camp.

Absolutely fine, when a team plays in those colours within their home shirt. :thumbright:

Ummmmm, but we do play in red shirts at home and blue away so it reflects the clubs current colours surely. Besides which, I was addressing the original OP quote which said that Red and Blue clashes and looks ridiculous. It doesnt.

Ummmm think you need to read my post correctly. :thumbright:

In my opinion, the blue and red will look ridiculous. In yours it doesn't. Neither of us is right, just opinions. :thumbright: :thumbright:

Good read, the best comment for me that somes up this whole rebrand situation was the statement

"I do sometimes feel that when people have legitimate concerns about the running of our club, especially the rebrand, the powers that be stick their fingers in their ears and go ‘la la la I can’t hear you la la la’".

He's right, this subject has been kicked to death.

CCS is the home of the national team and Red is Wales colour.

FFS ....everyone is becoming a feng shui expert.

What relevance does this have? Cardiff don't play at the Millennium stadium...

The stadium will be full for the super cup so you won't see much of the seats when empty.

"I do sometimes feel that when people have legitimate concerns about the running of our club, especially the rebrand, the powers that be stick their fingers in their ears and go ‘la la la I can’t hear you la la la’."

This perfectly sums up the club's relationship with the fans.
