Gary Medel's World Cup exploits with Chile make him an Inter Milan target

Gary Medel has been on international duty with surprise package Chile

Cardiff's relegation means they could sell the midfielder

Inter Milan are interested in the midfielder and believe they can tempt him to Serie A
By SIMON JONES

Wednesday 2nd July 2014.

Inter Milan have expressed an interest in Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medel.

The tough tackling middleman has impressed for Chile at the World Cup, with his nation going close to knocking out hosts Brazil after already defeating world champions Spain.

And Inter Milan believe they can tempt him to Italy after Cardiff were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Medel was a record £11million signing for Cardiff on promotion to the Premier League, signing a four-year deal, and after a decent season in the top flight he has plenty of potential suitors.

Cardiff are thought to have knocked back a loan bid from Valencia, while Besiktas are also keen.

Apology for what? I think he will go to an average side because he is an average premier league player, nothing has changed. I will look forward to your apology :thumbright:

Maybe another weird, attention seeking thread where you follow me around like a love sick puppy making yourself look a pleb, im more than happy to get involved if needs be.... Just so you know

Still, average sides are chasing the supposed "World class Medel"

Not shocking in the slightest.

World class :laughing6:

He was outshone in the Premier League by Tom Huddlestone who isnt even close to the England side that got roundly embarrassed at the world cup. As ive said before, hype hype and more hype, its what happens when someone is stupid enough to pay two or three times a players worth.

He finds himself at a championship club for a reason.

Would be a good move for Gary and as long as they pay what we ask for good for us too.

Inter Milan are a massive club, european football next season and could be a shout for a champions league spot next season.

Italian football would suit Medel's style too.

I'm assuming you'll take Inter's reported interest with the same truth that you've taken the reported interest of others clubs such as Valencia, Beskitas etc...

Here are just a few of the things you've said... quoted exactly. :bluescarf:

Yet nobody worth their salt wants him for what seems like peanuts. Odd.

why do only average teams want him then?

Hes average, available for average money and only average clubs want him - average.

If your theory was correct then he wouldnt have only average teams wanting him for such a pittance

I said no top side would want him and only average ones didnt I?

So you assume that being one of the best players in the world and available at a reported 4m-6m that the likes of Munich, Real, Barca, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, PSG, Athletico, Inter will all be clamouring for his signature at such a price?

Quite a few premier league players who haven't had great seasons have shone at the World Cup in some appearances, Medel has been consistent and a stand out performer for chile...
The type of opposition has suited him though... He would struggle to play centre back in the prem or championship.

I wouldn't day he was average though... We were a poor side and the players around him were not performing either.. Quite easy to get naffed off and frustrated when u have no quality around you..

We have brought in the South African who I believe will fill the role that Medel played this year and I wish him all the best whoever he goes.. Deserves top flight football with someone ..

If Medel was English and called Ian he wouldn't get half the love-in on here, I really am baffled by it. One person said he is one of our best players the other day, ridiculous.

I think it says a lot that a "world class player" was available for just over 10m and only a newly promoted side went in for him. United have needed a world class midfielder for years but still ignored him, and did the following summer when he was apparently available for 6m.

Biggest club he's played for is Boca, biggest he'll ever play for.

I don't agree one bit about the English. English players are the most overrated in the world. Bottom of their group, haven't achieved nothing and still clubs pay 30 mill for them just because they are English. No wonder the national team suck  those players get an inflated sense of self when they haven't achieved nothing.

I am more concerned about Jordan Mutch.

Assuming he has a release fee clause, anyone know what level it is.

£5m?
