Anyone use Npower?

Tue Jul 01, 2014 9:45 pm

In April this year my wife noticed that we were around £500 in credit on our account.
They take monthly payments of £133.
So we looked into perhaps getting some of the credit refunded.
However since our request, several things have happened.

April 21st,got a letter stating we were actually due them around £75.
April 22nd,letter stating actual account was in due of £243.
April 24th,another letter stating our account was now £407 due.

Needless to say there has been several phone calls and emails...

May, online account shows Credit of £480 in account.
May 17th letter asking for £636.
Shortly after opening that letter, only minutes actually, my wife opened another letter asking for £74.58.

On June 10th they took £133 from my account, as DD.
Then on June 11th they took another payment of £133.

At that moment all DD to Npower were cancelled, our provider has now been switched and we are now looking at what help we can get.

Has anyone on here had similar or any problems with this company?

Inadvertently we signed up to them in work. Don't do it! Worst ethics and even worse customer service. Bt and Lloyds bank have also been equally bad in good measure!

Yes tony i had exactly the same, i joined them in november last year (the start of my biggest usage period) and i received an e-mail in may saying is was £280 in credit, when i phoned them up to say i shouldn't be in credit due to when i started they admitted that my gas and electric meter readings i had sent them had got "lost" so after a few more phone calls and readings i am now owing them £80, which is about right leading into the summer months.

Used to be with Npower, but didn't have any problems with them!

I switched to Scottish Power a couple of years ago and again whilst I didn't have any trouble with them either, I switched to EDF yesterday, purely because I got a better deal!

I use Online Fixed Price Energy tariffs, so I get e-mail notifications of my bill and meter reading requests and therefore no junk mail!

I use http://www.uswitch.com/ as it's p!ss easy to switch!

I had a similar problem they claimed my credit was for gas and the electric was in debit, they confused the he'll out of the bills. Best supplier is sainsburys who track cheapest my bill has shot down by 400 a yr and I get a refund as well.

Sainsbury's weren't the cheapest when I checked on Uswitch yesterday, although they were 3rd or 4th in the cheapest listed!

Always best to use a price comparison site before switching and as you've got Gas & electric, you'd get a better deal than myself, who hasn't got any gas in my village!
