Gunnarsson Practicing throw-ins with a computer

Tue Jul 01, 2014 9:05 am

Tuesday 1st July 2014.

Cardiff's Arron Gunnarsson is getting some extra throw-in practice in before the start of the new season.

But rather than the standard football, the Icelander is preparing by launching COMPUTER SCREENS!

Here, Gunnarsson is seen chucking the object above his head as his pal measures to check out the distance.

Whether he broke the world record or not, we are unsure but it is a very bizarre drill.

The 25-year-old is famed for his long throws and Bluebirds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be calling on him to use it to full effect in the Championship next season.

An injury to his shoulder prevented him from reaching optimum throwing power during Cardiff's season in the Premier League.

Let's hope he doesn't pick anyone out with the considerably heavier objects!

When is Gunnarsson going to spend time practising his footballing skills? All this long throwing stuff was probably partly if not all to do with his shoulder injuries in the begining.
Gunnarsson its getting old now. It's not clever to do long throws. It is just as bad as hoofball accept with your hands rather than feet.
At this rate he will injure himself before the new season starts. How ridiculous to be throw objects like that.

I never said Gunnarson is old. I said his long throwing is getting old. Novelty has worn off now. In any case not many goals are scored from his long throws. Do a short throw by all means so your player can pass back then you can line up a paceful cross into the box. The ball has hardly no momentum when thrown into the box anyway which means the receiver has to put more energy into his header for it to be effective shot.
Gunnarsson the game is called football...not throw ball..besides which, if you use your foot you have the choice of passing it along the ground into the box or kicking it high for a head. :old:

Unbelievable that there are those bemoaning the loss of Gunnarsson's long throws. They were flat and without any real pace - any 'keeper worth his salt should get to those first if not impeded.
We've got players in the shape of Guerra and Macheda who whilst they can certainly head the ball are not going to appreciate balls thrown to them that are flat and with too much hang-time.
Andy Legg could launch a throw that was akin to a corner kick - Gunnarsson's throw-ins are not in the same class.

That is exactly the word I was trying to describe Gunnarssons throws as. Flat. I totally agree with you. I hope OGS does not adopt Gunnarssons liking for long throws. We need to progress.

Oi! Gunnar! No!

The sports science guys said to monitor your throw-in, NOT THROW YOUR MONITOR IN!
