Tony Pulis hopes to put bad blood between clubs behind him with double move for centre back and striker Fraizer Campbell
Tony Pulis is preparing a £8 million bid for Cardiff defender Steven Caulker and is confident of keeping Yannick Bolasie at Crystal Palace.
Pulis will rival Queens Park Rangers by matching the escape clause in Caulker’s contract after identifying the former Tottenham Hotspur centre-half as a priority summer signing.
Caulker will be allowed to leave Cardiff if clubs meet the required clause and has already been the subject of a bid from Championship play-off winners QPR.
Palace are also ready to meet the figure while there are other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Southampton, considering offers.
The deal could be complicated by the bad blood that exists between the two clubs over last season’s ‘Spygate’ scandal but Pulis is keen to strike a deal in the next few weeks.
Pulis has returned from media work at the World Cup and is working on his transfer strategy for the summer, with Cardiff striker Fraizer Campbell another target.
Like Caulker, Campbell has a clause in his contract that allows him to talk with interested clubs and he has already met with Leicester City.
Pulis has also offered a new deal to winger Bolasie, who played a major role in securing the club’s Premier League survival last season.
Bolasie has 12 months left on his contract but negotiations are advanced and Palace are hopeful of agreeing a deal this week.
