Anyone know of Private Land by the CCS

Mon Jun 30, 2014 1:44 pm

For a takeaway van/cart to take up..? The Council are so awkward regarding street trading that it more or less needs to be located on private land so wondering if anyone knows of anywhere where is cheap as chips as they say..?

When you say the council are awkward, you have to realise that the legislation put in place for this kind of thing is there for a reason... to help protect the public.
You have to comply with trading standards and health & safety, you can't be complying if you haven't got a licence, no matter how you try to circumnavigate that issue.
Imagine that a restaurant/cafe owner was convicted of gross negligence regarding hygiene offences, and then opened up a fast food stall on private land but serving members of the public... would you be happy to buy from him?
Another thing you need to consider carefully is "visits" you'll get from other food vendors who take umbrage to you setting up stall when they have to pay high annual licencing fees while you pay nothing.

Why dont you ask Canton Rugby club, not sure if they do food on matchday, lots of punters there and loads park in that street as well as the school at the bottom of the road

Feeling better after that rant ? Even through you attempt to know what you are talking about even through you are talking out of your backside.

You have to have all the food hygiene certificates preferably with the council and be registered as a food business with the council before anything else which means that the risk of hygiene issues just aren't there.

The problem I have is that the Vale and Cardiff have different rules bearing in mind they are next to one another. With Cardiff there are streets which they stop you to street trade yet you can put it on a piece of private land on that very same street and they can't do anything about it!!! Wouldn't it be better to have the opportunity to go in front of a panel, pay a further fee for a special permit to trade as that would even benefit the taxpayer yet no is no so to get around that then it's finding a plot of private land

Rant?.. you really think that was a rant??

So, your looking to sell fast food on match days without a vendors licence, have I got that right?

You completely haven't got a clue have you..?

Did I or did I not say that you can work with the council on getting the correct food hygiene certs AND work with the council in 'REGISTRATION OF FOOD BUSINESS..?'

Now correct me if I'm wrong but as a result of being fully signed up on those two key areas with the council then you are legally able to sell food on condition that it is not on their listed streets however it the street is on their listed streets then you have to find a liece of private land which you can be stationed.

However I do feel that Im talking to the one and only Russell Goodway here so please to this if you please.

There' s usually a burger van halfway up Hadfield Road at the entrance to the Leckwith retail park. It smells like they are cooking mangy old cats and the staff look like they've eaten most of the profits. I can see a gap in the market for a 'Brownie Burger but I wouldn't want any of his 'Special Sauce' on it. I would like to think that the van would be typically controversial with a sign that says 'Want Halal Meat? - Then Fuck-Off'. Ramadan-a-dingdong.

I've lived down here for the best part of 10 years now and there too many things going on without me taking my slice of the catering market especially as Ive got experience of the catering industry.

Here's a question for you all. Are Chili dogs just a U.S thing..?

You make yourself sound on the same entrepenuer level as Gordon Ramsey ffs :laughing5:

The only catering experience you have is often being described as a world famous burger you Whopper.

Youd never pass any hygene certificates with that cretinous lisp of yours spitting all over the food.

I don't know what the going rate is to be honest. Also I must admit the mixture of petrol and gas from the cylinder does scare me actually but f**k it in for a penny in for a pound as they say :D
