What a f'in hero!

Sun Jun 29, 2014 1:22 am

Gary is a bluebird! Who would have ever imagined we would have a player this renound in the world cup-final knockout stages!?. Thanks vincent. No matter what people say, the reason we have world class players in our side are because of tan. You have taken us up a notch, extendeded our stadium, booted the egg out, and made us a big club finally..... If sam had the money to do that no-one would be complaining at all. A

Calm down, I think only Cardiff fans and British media have mentioned him because he has a link to our game.

People are talking like some idiot will pay 11m for him

Agreed. Its crazy the hyperbole cardiff fans create over this man, he hardly gets a mention (i asume its just uk commentators) just another one of the Chile team that won 2 and lost 2. Yet on here chile were "team of the tournament" :laughing6:

Don't talk a load of bollox!!! :laughing6: Brazil are unbeaten at home for the last 39, yes 39 years and it took a penalty shoot out to maintain that magnificent record. Your blinkered view of Medel has clouded your judgement of him and his countrymen on this occasion. Could you run 10KM in 109 minutes tackling some of the best players in world football while carrying a thigh strain? The Chile manager stated on Friday that if the match was played on that day Medel would not be able to play yet a day later he went through the pain barrier. Medel and Chile were magnificent. Even Scolari admitted Brazil got lucky against Chile!! his words were "Chile were brilliant". I would trust his judgement before yours :laughing6:

Im sure Liverpool probably said that about you when you took them to a shootout too. So what? Doesnt mean cardiff belonged in the elite of europe. However if you think Chile deserved to beat Brazil then you are off your rocker. Brazil had twice the number of goal scoring attempts and dictated play.

Chile only won 2 games in the whole tournament and lost as many as Ivory Coast. Hype, hype and more hype.

Yep, what a loon. Imagine not getting caught up in the plucky upstart hyperbole and making a clear observation that a team that dominated deserved to win :laughing6:

Bet you thought Blackpool should have won the premier league too as they put in a couple of decent battling performances :laughing6:

Saved by the crossbar ;) and Brazils manager wholly admitted his team were lucky :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6: You don't half talk some bullshit for a seemingly intelligent man (blinded by statistics and your own ego) ;) :laughing6: :laughing6: :laughing6:

 so they deserved to win because they missed the goal with a shot and hit the bar?

chile were saved by their keepers hands on more than one occasion and a dubious goal ruled out - which is 100000 times better than hitting an inanimate object in a bar that never moves and wouldnt have resulted in a goal even if there was no goalkeeper there. What an absolute ridiculous thing to say :laughing6:

Won 2 lost 2 and deserved to lose :thumbright:

I will pander to your juvenile argument by saying statistically your right but speaking through my experienced football loving goggles and echoing the thoughts of Scolari himself "Brazil were lucky to win, ON PENALTIES". Right i've had my fun with you try your statistics out on someone far less football savvy than my goodself I bid you g'dayyyy cobber ;) :laughing6:

I'd say won won 2 drew 1 lost 1. It seem you are the only person that doesn't rate chile or Medel. Thought he terrible for at the end of the season but has been great in the world cup and made sky sports team of the group stages.that is probably picked by people with a far greater knowledge of football than you. So why don't you give credit where it's due

But surely by your argument, if chile had won then they would also be lucky to win.

So taking that into account, now we agree brazil played better - you are left without an argument.... Cobber

All the pundits were raving about Gary yesterday, not to mention he was in one of the teams of the week. But hey, If Roathy says he's shit we are all obviously wrong.

Would love to keep him but if he does go now I think we will get a good price for him after that world cup. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Fair play roathie all the slagging off of medel you have done and you wont admit you are wrong. Thought you were better than that. He has proven himself on the biggest stage as a world class player. You cant argue with that. Even the stats back it up...

I always give credit where credit is due

So you have never met me yet deduce that people who made a choice 11 know more than me on the basis that they work for sky sports, who employ people for comedic value  oh maybe i should have listened to Jamie Reknapp when he tipped Swansea for the top 4 then :laughing6:

I dont know why you dont think i rate chile or medel. I just tell it like it is and dont pointlessly gush. Medel is an average Prem payer but slots in well with Chile. He has had 2 decent games out of 4 in a chile side that were decent. Thats the ling and the short of it.

They deserve to be out.

So in the main he has 38 average games in arguably the best league in the world while the stats say he was in fact one of the worst defensive midfielders in the league.... Yet you expect me to change my views on 2 decent performances at the world cup? My point regarding fickle fans and hype are evident in that one post of yours.

El Hadji Diouf had a few good games at the world cup too, he was still average.

And he certainly did have a good game. So what? They still deserved to be knocked out and Medel still only has a handful of good games in his last 40 appearances.

Its funny how pundits are spot on when it suits and then clueless when it doesnt. A balanced view is always more sensible and reliable and a handful of good performances in 40 odd does not a world class player make... Which is why he is a championship player, if he was world class he would be nowhere near signing for relegation favourites.

So your saying he's an average player because he didn't cut it in the prem. A lot of players don't cut it in the prem .Pires was terrible in his first season. Forlan didn't cut it at utd nor morientes at Liverpool but they better than any player you've had playing for you . He was good up to when malkey went and bossed you boys when you came to us. So you judging him on half a season in a new league where he doesn't speak the lingo

Re: What a f'in hero!

Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:21 am

If I was a Cardiff fan I'd feel pissed off tbh , he gave his all in the world cup pride , passion and commitment , if he'd shown a fraction of that while with you you might have had a better chance of staying up

Nope im saying he is an average Premier league player because he could barely hack it at that level. Pretty fair id say.

Do you prove yourself in 4 games then? (only two of which were decent performances).

The Premier League is also a world stage, it is the most watched league on the planet and he failed miserably over a test period of over 10 times as many games.

Re: What a f'in hero!

Are you saying the premier league is a bigger stage than the world cup roathy? Please clarify...

In my opinion all four games he has been class.

Im not being funny, even Lionel Messi would have looked shite playing in our team last year

Medel Had a better World Cup than bony :D

Depends what you mean by biggest stage, and indeed its relevancy.

The biggest world stage that is relevant to judging a player would be a full top flight club season. Salif Diao and El Hadji Diouf played well in a couple of world cup games then were shite and average respectively in the more challenging top class season of games. On the flip side, ronaldo has been anonymous at the world cup, does that mean he isnt class? No. Why? Because he proves himself over the course of a 50 game top flight season.

Messi certainly wouldnt have looked shite playing for you i can assure you :laughing6:

And gervinho the arsenal flop had a better world cup than yaya toure, cristiano ronaldo and iniesta.

Sort of my point really. Thats the difference between a few games in a tournament and a top class full season.
