' THE 3 CARDIFF CITY TEAMS OLE COULD PICK '

Saturday 28th June 2014.

By Terry Philips

If the first Championship match against Blackburn on August 8 was to be played this weekend who would Solskjaer select?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rich pickings in his Cardiff City squad as the players return to pre-season training on Monday.

Only three years ago Malky Mackay took over from Dave Jones and was left with only 10 players as he planned for the 2011-12 season, while Solskjaer has four times that number to select from.

Up to 10 of the current senior squad, including Steven Caulker and Gary Medel, are likely to be leaving the club between now and the end of the transfer window, some of those on loan, while Solskjaer still wants to add a centre-half.

But if the first Championship match of the season, scheduled against Blackburn Rovers on Friday, August 8, was to be played this weekend who would Solskjaer select?

Forget World Cup commitments and imminent departures for the moment.

Who would Solskjaer have in his starting line-up, second choice team and third choice team?

At least 2 of them are not realistic options. The big names from team one will be gone and the youngsters and fringe players in team 3 won't starting. Bit silly really

In fairness mate it does say could play if it were today and it does say a number of players will leave.
Makes the point that we are payi g a lot of wages and we still have an incredibly strong squad. Especially considering what we had a couple of years back following the play off hiding from Reading. :bluescarf:

Thats the best team in the league right there, we have flexibility with the strikers rotating as and when needed.

At 32 and very slow hudson is the weakest link in our side, if ole can bring in a quality CB we'll be laughing.

Not a Big Brayford fan there is a reason he doesn't appeal at premiership level he can certainly play football. my concern is maybe he has vulnerability's and coaching staff have picked up on it

Yeah we need a new CB but I done this team on what we have now and with the RB I thought Brayford would be better next season with mcnaughton getting on a bit but I wouldn't mind either of them playing

He will get a new cb. Don't think mcnaughton is the right fit ,ole likes to play with attacking full backs that switch into wingers, when the wingers drift inside. You need fast, modern full backs especially if you play someone like mats he doesn't just stay out wide like a traditional winger.

Yeah I guess so. We will have to see how Brayford gets off in pre-season
