QPR have emerged as a possible destination for Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker, with reports suggesting that the London side are preparing an offer for the 22-year-old centre-back.
Caulker has also been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton, while Southampton are said to be monitoring the situation should they lose centre-back Dejan Lovren to Liverpool. However QPR could be about to steal a march on their rivals, with The Express reporting that they are preparing a bid.
They are said to be hopeful that they can persuade Caulker to opt for them over the possibility of a move to a more illustrious Premier League side with the lure of being a key player at the club and a large financial incentive.
Caulker played every minute of Cardiff’s Premier League season last year, scoring five goals, but saw the side relegated to the Championship.
However the centre-back impressed at the heart of the defence, leading to speculation linking him with a move away. Arsenal and Liverpool were both initially linked, although would be less likely to guarantee first team football than QPR, while he is believed to be keen on a reunion with his former manager at Swansea City – Roberto Martinez – with a move to Everton.
Caulker was the only Cardiff player to feature in every PL game last season.
